I think this news is a bummer for almost anyone of a certain age. These guys were the soundtrack to a lot of social gatherings and memories whether you liked 'em or not. That summer when Get Lucky came out might have been the best of my entire life, fell in love hard and that song will always remind me of that. Around the World and those first two albums brings me back even further to good, though often drug filled times. This news really bummed me out, even if I'm not a massive fan or have listened to them much in years.

RAM is my favorite Daft Punk album, despite how amazing Discovery also is. Seriously one of the best pop albums of the 2010s with banger after banger... plus, I love how organic and even progressive the album is, with all the lengthy instrumentals and complex arrangements of the longer tunes

Homework was always the best.
The videos at the time were revolutionary and the reason why this ‘act’ has rightfully written itself into musical history.

RAM is super overrated, it's fine but it doesn't come close to their first two and many of the ideas just seemed stale and unfleshed out

cordwainerbird

felt like they never rly had a chance to show their stuff - Discovery was really something incredible and after RAM the two would have had enough experience doing both the mainstream AND underground shticks to have made something truly insane

This one stings. There's no denial regarding the impact that Daft Punk made on the music industry. Given that there hasn't been much new material from them in years, this news felt in a weird way expected. Was hoping for just one more album release before they disbanded...maybe they'll return (using their actual names) to score the new TRON film that's planned?

Hard disagree. I still listen to RAM a lot to this day, whereas I couldn't even bring myself to finish S3 of Stranger Things

Don't listen to Daft Punk too often, but everytime I do it is great. Love their rockstar approach to electronic music.
Even people who don't care cared enough to post about it, that's an achievement of its own if you ask me.

Because he's gonna repair the other one for the Reassemble video and subsequent tour + live album we'll get in 7-10 years.
