why
| |
[2]
it made sense to remix Messengers, but this album sounded great to begin with
| |
they will not stop until every album is remastered
| |
i didnt know they remasted messengers lol
| |
Messengers remastered owns
| |
i kinda liked the weird production messengers had
| |
pointless
| |
I prefer the original mix of Messengers but I get why they weren't happy with it
| |
"i kinda liked the weird production messengers had"
Same. It hit hard as fuck and was loud as hell for no reason. Used to shit bricks whenever a Messengers song came on shuffle.
| |
They should re-record Thrill Seeker
| |
Honestly yea, I'd love to hear a re-recording of Thrill Seeker with Jake's vox on it and the production they have now
| |
Solid state trying to milk their abr catalogue, nothing more.
| |
"They should re-record Thrill Seeker"
Please no. Messing with their one great album would be embarrassing
| |
"why"
because money
| |
The Messengers remix is dogshit, all they did was bump the bass and completely neuter the guitars. This album didn't need a remaster but I'll check it out anyway, out of curiosity.
A re-recorded Thrill Seeker is all I want.
| |
If they can make it sound better I'm all in! I don't know what Durrzo is on about but the Messengers Remix. That remix is night and day better.
| |
yea band's are a business and need to make money
| |
I mean props to them for staying around for 17 years
| |
Fuckin 123
| |
Time to hit new PR's with ABR again.
One of the bands that is incredibly good for powerlifting/strongman/explosive training.
| |
Was actually hoping for this. Original recording was super clean, but a little too light to do the aggressive parts justice
| |
Don't see the point, but will check
| |
“A re-recorded Thrill Seeker is all I want.”
I’d rather them not suck all the life out of the one album by them that I enjoy
| |
Weird I didn't know that the original version would cease to exist if it was re-recorded.
| |
really don't understand how people can like thrill seeker and not get anything out of any of their other stuff. messengers esp.
| |
Much less repetitive than messengers, superior vocals, etc
| |
Cause Messengers was the start of them becoming more homogenous and less interesting. Thrill Seeker felt organic and more raw than the stuff afterwards, and also had a greater emphasis on more mathy and technical passages while later they focused mainly on triumphant-sounding leads that almost always segue into a boring breakdown. Not to say Thrill Seeker isn’t full of breakdowns, but again to me they always felt more naturally implemented in the songs and usually were kept interesting by being in an odd meter or something. Even when Messengers first dropped I was never as impressed by it as I was Thrill Seeker
Also The Seventh Trumpet
| |
constellations could not possibly get better with a remaster. It sounds perfect. What a pointless thing to do...
| |
To be fair i still like messengers, it just gets reeeaaally samey imo. Thrill seeker has always kept me engaged from beginning to end
| |
I hope they've replaced all the lead guitars with midi gunshot noises
| |
The Messengers remix sounds like shit so I don’t have high hopes.
| |
A Leveler remaster would be great
| |
Does Constellations even need a remaster? Feels like a cash-grab but I can't really blame them, it's a landmark album that deserves a second look especially since it's the 10 year anniversary.
| |
If only other bands would follow suit... remaster Intrinsic!
| |
“A Leveler remaster would be great”
[infinity]
| |
What's wrong with the production on Constellations? Or Intrinsic? Or Leveller?
| |
Admittedly probably shouldn't have put a sample from the Messengers remix on this, haha
| |
Jake's vocals aren't that good on Leveler because he was sick during recording and that record isn't as hard hitting production wise
| |
The mix on Leveler is probably the worst in their whole discography.
| |
Can someone explain this?
| |
What is there to explain that isn't obvious
| |
What a pointless endeavor but ok
| |
was surprised that video above is a remix/remaster. Listened to the original and it seems like they cranked up those drums, added some flub to the kick, and turned down the guitars quite a bit. I can see why they wanted to remix/remaster that album after listening to the original song, but honestly don't really think they did a stellar job with it.
Shadows Fall - Of One Blood remaster is how you remaster a metalcore album:

| |
Thank you DungeonBoy, thank you, edgy apes also
| |
You're welcome
| |
literally no one:
ABR: HeReS aNoTher rEmaSteR
| |
Kinda mind boggling how albums are getting remastered when they're barely 10 years old
| |
Unless a remaster makes Jake Luhrs less grating and the music less mind numbingly boring, Imma pass
| |
Leveller rules, y'all are dumb. And Dan deserves a forced lobotomy.
| |
I didn’t know not liking a shitty Misery Signals wannabe band was deserving of a lobotomy, but I guess if it is sign me up boi!
| |
Haha I love both those bands equally, you should jam Constellations again. We'll delay the lobotomy until after
| |
Misery Signal and ABR both formed around the same time and put out their first releases at the same time, not really fair to call them a rip-off. I don’t think ABR is really worth listening to after Thrill Seeker though
| |
I have never listened to misery signals. That's my deep dark secret in life
| |
@space how purist of you
| |
Thrill Seeker is the only ABR album I can even kind of enjoy. Constellations is one of the better ones, but it’s all just so bland. Yeah maybe rip-off is a bit of a misnomer. A less interesting band that plays a similar style is more accurate. If ABR just tried more interesting song structures and got a better vocalist maybe I’d care about them.
| |
Misery Signals is good Source, worth checking out for sure
| |
lol how is jester being a "purist?"
| |
Searched them on spotify so i remember
| |
Misery Signals is good Source, worth checking out for sure [2]
| |
Source listen to Misery Signals immediately. Controller is one of the best albums ever
| |
@calmrose cause he only likes Thrill Seeker? Was that not obvious lol
| |
Yeah Source, Of Malice and The Magnum Heart, and Controller are top tier imo. The rest isn’t too shabby either.
| |
"@calmrose cause he only likes Thrill Seeker? Was that not obvious lol"
no I got that, don't see how it makes him a purist though
| |
I saw them live when norma jean toured for redeemer, but I've never thought to check their albums for some reason. They put on a good show though
| |
btbam was on that tour as well now that I think about it
| |
@Calmrose apparently liking the only enjoyable album from a band makes one a purist? These rules of music fandom confuse me.
| |
cause it's their first album..? Where is the confusion coming from.
| |
No me being a purist would be me saying the only good Architects album is their first one from back when they were a mathcore band
So I guess I’m a purist
| |
Technically they released an ep before thrill seeker so he's not actually a purist
| |
Oh yea
I don’t remember the EP very well actually
| |
"Misery Signal and ABR both formed around the same time and put out their first releases at the same time, not really fair to call them a rip-off. "
ABR have noted Misery Signals as one of their biggest influences along with BtBaM and hopesfall.
| |
@Source If we were in high-school I would give you a wedgie and shove you into a locker
| |
So it looks like they actually made 2 eps. I only knew about Looks Fragile After All
| |
And Architects first three are all thats worth listening to along with a few tracks off of the 4th and 5th.
| |
ABR cite Hopesfall as an influence? Well that sure as hell didn’t translate.
| |
art is bullying me
| |
it's just a vicious cycle
| |
Gonna throw in a swirlie while youre at it
| |
http://youtu.be/OlPsY14-hPs
| |
No bulli
| |
@Source I would never do that to you man. At worst I would steal your lunch and pee in your general direction
| |
Unless you want to be a registered sex offender, I’d advise against that last part
| |
artiswar? more like rkellywar
| |
take your damn pills Dan, you're confusing sput with reality again
| |
Listen I’ve been doing just fine without my medication thank you very much. Just ask Zeke, my giant blue rabbit that lives under my bed.
| |
"Kinda mind boggling how albums are getting remastered when they're barely 10 years old"
Exactly my thoughts.
| |
the album is 10 years old which is an anniversary, what is mind boggling about it
| |
that 10 years isn't that long for an album to be out for it to have a remaster already
| |
Exactly
| |
Constellations was a landmark album, therefore a 10 year anniversary celebration is in order, seems fair to me.
| |
that's not the point being made with the above quote
| |
Thrill Seeker is still the best ABR, remaster that one pls
| |
art you goober
| |
Haha 10 years for a metalcore band is like a 100 rock years
| |
Never thought about it that way
| |
I am so hyped for this holy shit
| |
Constellations is one of my fav metalcore albums but dafuq is this shit. Album sounds perfectly fine. In another ten years they'll be releasing remasters of the remasters I bet.
| |
lol at this rate probably
| |
Finna release an album and remaster it two months later
| |
That's basically what this feels like
| |
what if this is like the Meshuggah - Nothing Remaster though? And it's actually heavier! >=)
| |
Wouldn't know, never heard it
| |
haha why not
| |
Not really a meshuggah fan except for their first three
| |
lol that sounds like a roundabout way of saying you don't like Nothing. It's a great album and the 'premature' remaster is great.
| |
It's a way of saying I only like contradictions collapse - chaosphere
| |
You're missing out on some damn good albums then, but I'll agree Chaosphere is pretty hard to top.
| |
I've heard them, I just find them kind of boring compared to the first three
| |
The most recent one was boring but Nothing, Catch 33, ObZen, and Koloss are fucking bonkers.
| |
Source doesn't like music post 2006
| |
music is trash agreed
| |
Why didn't they just make the bass louder on Messengers the first time? If it's going to be quiet they might as well not have a bassist
| |
you know what I hate even more than music? Music forums.
| |
Always had a burning hatred for pointless remasters myself
| |
90% of remasters are pointless I'd say
| |
Born Of Osiris did the remaster shit the right way. The Eternal Reign>>>>
| |
Eternal Reign slaps so much cheeks
| |
agreed bloc
| |
Converge You Fail Me is one of the few remasters that actually improves the album.
| |
I actually do really like the As the Palaces Burn remaster. And I'm holding out hope for Cruelty and the Beast which should be out this year.
| |
wait there's an As The Palaces Burn remaster?
| |
Eternal Reign and Rareform are like the best remasters of all time lol
| |
Meshuggah - Nothing tho
| |
Who
| |
some random Swedish band, not really important
| |
Dir en grey - Uroboros
| |
No, ur a bro :3
| |
< 3
| |
I'm trying to think of a worthwhile remaster that I've heard, but I can't
| |
As far as remixes/remasters of heavier albums go I thought Deliverance (Opeth) and You Fail Me (Converge) were both pretty outstanding
| |
You Fail Me is one of the best remasters ever
| |
also, Steven Wilson remastered Jethro Tull's "Songs From the Wood". It's really good and that album definitely needed it
| |
Still haven't heard the deliverance remaster
| |
Oh dude, it's unreal. Completely transformed the album for me.
| |
“Eternal Reign and Rareform are like the best remasters of all time lol”
Those aren’t remasters. They’re completely new recordings.
| |
that's a good point
| |
