Machine Head rerecord Davidian

2019-04-11 by DatsNotDaMetulz | 17 Comments
Machine Head have this week released a live-in-studio clip of the re-united Burn My Eyes era lineup (minus bassist Adam Duce) performing their classic track "Davidian". The video was released to tease their tour celebrating 25 years since the album's release, the first tour to feature drummer Chris Kontos in 24 years and original guitarist Logan Mader in 21 years. It has also been revealed that the group have re-recorded the entire album as part of the celebrations. However, it has been implied that the duo will not be returning to the band full-time, with two new as-yet-unnamed new members entering the fold after the Burn My Eyes tour concludes.

Missing all the aggression and the intensity that made it so good before.

@Eons you're not wrong. The very last new article about these guys is from September and it's titled "Machine Head Break Up". Frankly after Catharsis it felt like the right move. This however, is the opposite. The last thing I want from this band is for them to start butchering the remaining good will I have towards them by fucking up their old music. This is definitely one of the most frustrating trends in music from the last decade imo.

Re-recording an album is fine by me, if the production of the original is bad enough to take away from the experience or if they actually change and improve the songs themselves. None of that seems to be the case here...

A few members left, so they announced a "farewell" tour - but it was only a farewell to those members, not a farewell to the band.

TBH I'm not really sure what Robb was doing on his part of the solo, but Logan absolutely nailed his part. At the very least this video shows that Logan and Chris can still bring it.

I understand that art is personal and you can write about whatever you want but seriously Robb should be ashamed for their last album. That shit was cringeworthy lyrically, and vocally. It was absolutely pathetic, really. The album before that one was at least heavy metal.

Ahhh yes, what people absolutely needed after the whole Catharsis debacle. Seems like the dudes want to add more salt to the wound lmao.

They did A Thousand Lies next: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89Lx1dqn3IU&feature=youtu.be

Chris Kontos still a beast on drums I see. Robb probably the weak point.
