Give it some credit, it was a pretty big deal to have a Domino records band top the charts again after a decade

AM has some good songs but I always thought it was their weakest, or Suck It and See perhaps. The drummer got so lazy after Humbug haha. Favorite Worst Nightmare is their best. I bet this new one will be a solid 7/10.

helders used to be one of my fav drummers. This band has been so sterile for the better part of a decade now. I'll check for it but I'm not getting my hopes up. That being said their first two albums are a couple of my favs of all time

Don't know what you guys are talking about Matt Helders getting lazy. "R U Mine" is a top tier drum track.

Probably gonna be a bunch of safe, velveteen rock songs with no bite, supposedly made 'risky' and 'adventurous' and 'seductive' by two drum fills, falsetto backing vocals, and Alex Turner rhyming "juice" with "papoose" in a sleazy voice that people gush over solely because omg accent British bae 😍
It'll be played in hairdressers for a couple months, 16 yo indie kids will buy the hoodie, and the world will keep on spinning.

True. That's the exception on that album. I don't mind tho given the style, it's a pretty laid back r&b/psych rock fusion sound that doesn't require the kind of drumming from their first three.

TalonsOfFire, agreed. I think anytime he's given the chance to put his foot on the gas he delivers (Library Pictures, Pretty Visitors) but the last 3 albums have slowed down the bpm's considerably.

Ya'll motherfuckers are gonna be really surprised by this thing, and I mean all of you, both the early Monkeys fans and AM fans alike, if you thought Humbug was a change in direction during its time, then you ain't know nothing yet. Whether sputnik will love it or hate it, we'll have to wait and see (more likely hate it, I somehow feel) but that its gonna confuse the hell out of ya'll is for sure.

No, it has the mood of what he sent to journos as inspirations, but not the actual music. It's just gonna be jarring to some people, cause this is... different. Some songs have two fucking simultaneous drum tracks on them, and there is LOADS of piano, and songs without choruses and shit, and bass players playing guitars, while the drummer plays the orchestron and shit, and some songs don't have drums on the, and some songs are 6 minutes, while other are barely two, its... VERY interesting stuff, it remains to be seen if its any good though.

if his lyrics keep going down the same shite trajectory, the album after this one will just be him babbling like a wonky six-year old..

This new one is probably his best album lyrically, and most diverse topic wise, I think "She Looks Like Fun" is the only song on here that can be called a "generic love song", the rest are almost like a combo of him, Nick Cave and FJM
