Kalmah are Evil Kin

2018-02-10 by Xenorazr | 36 Comments
Finnish metal band Kalmah have released a new song, "Evil Twin," coinciding with the announcement of their latest album, Palo.

Lead guitarist Antti Kokko describes the album as one that "stands strongly on the very roots of Kalmah's sound, yet introduces fresh breath from the Swamplord's tar-stained lungs."

Palo will be the band's eighth studio album, and first since 2013's Seventh Swamphony. It is set for release on April 6th.

Kalmah is as Kalmah does. Song is fine, but nothing that makes me particularly excited.

Probably the worst song the band has put out since 'For The Revolution'. Not terrible or anything, but entirely uninspired. Lyrics are lol as well.

OK song, but needed more of that big Kalmah melodic flair like their old stuff.

Hard to judge a metal album by its first single. It's usually the safest track.

Windlake Tale and Black Marten's Trace from the last album had some crazy guitar leads

true, but it used to be a staple of their records rather than an exception only occurring on a few tracks. they will return was basically just a giant guitar solo for most of the record.

this song has a very strong "for the revolution" vibe going on but more formulaic.

It's a mix of For the Revolution and Seventh Swamphony. This would be excellent if they brought the riff-slayage and solo duels like in 12 Gauge.

they're one step down from their first three but steadily excellent. they're my favorite dm alongside Ulcerate.

Pretty bland song. Guitar tone is super scooped too, which is a nice throwback sound.

I love Kalmah but in my opinion the more they've aped old-school thrash the worse they've gotten. I desperately, desperately want them to return to the sounds of their first four albums.

almost pretty sick. kinda mediocre. lyrics are bad buns bushy biscuits. vocal delivery is almost good, but not good. but still ya, some sweet tasty licks. so catchy. I'll give it a 1 on the 0 to 1 scale.
