metalheads can't quite stand bands that they deem 'not trve cvlt' enough, got on the babymetal thread w/ unruly behaviour, babymetal fans felt it would be funny if they taunted them even more, they got pissy, everyone got pissy, shit happened, bans happened

It wasn't about the seriousness of Babymetal or any eliteness etc. I mean that was probably part of the problem but the big shitstorm was caused because some comments were made about the band members that weren't "age appropriate" if you get my meaning, since at that point they were like 16 and under.

What happened was Necrotica (was on staff at the time, known as FiveLeavesLeft) talked about wanting to fuck the members of Babymetal, dress up in "goth lolita dresses for cosplay" or whatever, etc. Pretty much got him kicked from staff in the end. Dude's a real stand up guy, but holy shit the whole Babymetal thing was him at his absolute worst.

I'm mainly a progmetal fan, but I really don't understand the hate many of metal fans have for the group.. in this times, I take very gladly a band even if it's a product of the biz, if they play good metal.. and my god, the musicians in this group are great - I absolutely love the drummer.. yeah, of course they have cheesy lyrics and the metal is many times over the top, but who cares? Now radios and TV channels are afraid to play anything guitar focus, so atleast this group can bring the young ones to metal and rock..

I loved one interview with Nevermore from 2003, where they were ask about what they think about Limp Bizkit and they answered with: "Well, they don't play that type of music we like, but they can be a bridge for young people to discover other types of rock and metal music, maybe even the classics, which is great and for this reason we don't hate them or anything like that"

And that same thing I can say about Babymetal.. well, and the musicians in the group are better than anyone in LB and the lead singer in BM is pretty good too
Babymetal Death, Megitsune, Benitsuki, Catch Me if you Can, Akumu no Rinbukyoku and Ijime, Dame, Zettai are pretty good fun, catchy songs

As for the thread, aside from Necro's antics, it was just a total mess. Nothing of value came from it and it was a minor problem, the whole debacle is far, far overblown from what exactly happened.

The only people this attracts are the people who genuinely enjoy BVB/Sylosis/Avenged Sevenfold/any emo -core band, and the more of those people we get into the community the more cancerous it gets. So please don't.

Babymetal are great live. Saw them at Sonisphere and it was just a sea of metalheads with bewildered smiles. I wouldn't go out and buy their album or anything but they are great fun at festivals.

From the first two songs released it's pretty clear that the individual songs are becoming a lot more streamlined and less eclectic, with Road of Resistance being straight up power metal and Karate following more melodic modern metal influences.
