Filter Announce New Album

2016-01-20 by judasgoat | 11 Comments
Filter will release the follow-up to their 2013 record, The Sun Comes Out Tonight, on April 8th. Entitled Crazy Eyes, the album will be more "experimental" and "industrial" according to vocalist Richard Patrick.

The first single, "Take Me to Heaven", can be streamed on Soundcloud at the link below:

Billboard has also interviewed Richard Patrick about the album, which can be read here:

It's ok, far from their best. Good news about the new album though!

It's really hard to take stuff Richard says seriously. Dude is way too into self promotion. He was actually wearing a Filter t-shirt when I saw them a few years ago.

That being said, it didn't stop me from seeing the next time they came to my city. And the next time. And the time after that, too. Band puts on a great live show. Tons of energy. You can tell Rich loves what he does. They're one of those bands that's an absolute joy to listen to because of it. He'll probably never release anything above, say, a soft 4, but his music is almost always fun to blast in the car or work out to. They're one of the better bands in modern rock right now (lol @ any notions of them being industrial).

Excited for the new album.

This is a safe as socks, boring, generic radio rock song. Nothing industrial about it at all.

Yeah, his excitement sometimes builds too much hype around the albums. Still, I love their latest albums, he's been returning to his roots since 2010, I doubt this will be heavier than The Trouble With Angels.

Still, they're a lot of fun, agreed.

Yeah you know what you can't judge the album off of one average song. I went into the last album thinking it would suck cuz the singles were meh....but it ended up blowing me away. Glad to see Filter is still kicking around.

Am I too old school in thinking 'Title of Record' is still their best?

This band has always been super hit or miss doubt this album will be an exception.
