YES! A Mastodon Guitar solo!
| |
Its alright
| |
oh mastodon, noooooooooo
| |
I dig, come at me.
| |
it's good yea fuck the flogs
| |
I dig, come at me. [2]
| |
Its better than anything on the hunter thats for sure
| |
STARGASM!!!!!!!!!
I like it
| |
Not bad.
| |
it's poppy and more straight forward, but it works overall. You never know they could jump off into more prog based stuff like crack the skye again. Divinations off CTS was the first song released and was a pretty standard 3:30 rock block song. I'd prefer to see how it sounds in context with the full album when it finally sees the light of day.
I've been into these guys since remission, but my fave album is CTS so i'm not adverse to their lighter side.
| |
I like it!
| |
Yesss better than anything on the hunter
| |
Solo is amazing. Chorus is kinda annoying. And is it Brann singing?
| |
Decent.
| |
Cool. Not a big Mastodon fan, but I enjoyed this.
| |
It's just the curl of the burl!
Song is okay. Have a feeling their better days are behind them at this point.
| |
it's okay.
| |
eh
| |
Love it. Usually the straight ahead rockers do little for me, but this sounds killer imo.
| |
the song is boring, the majority of The Hunter is better than this.
| |
"Yesss better than anything on the hunter"
lolno
| |
ew that chorus
| |
rules agreed
| |
that was a rough listen for someone who really held Remission in high regards
| |
I'm glad I don't have to hear Bret Hinds vocals, but that chorus is terrible. The rest of the song is ok.
| |
The song was alright, but nothing special
| |
this is the most mixed opinion thread i think ive seen...
| |
I miss harsh vocals/ pre Hunter vocals
like everything else is sick but then the vocals are just awkward
| |
not bad
| |
I miss harsh vocals [2] This seems about on par with most of the Hunter to me, which isn't a bad thing by any means, though I long for that crushing Leviathan heaviness or some of that tasty Crack the Skye prog
| |
I really like it. The vocals during the verses are awesome and the chorus is great. The bridge is also fantastic. I'm glad they're sticking with the shorter, punchier songs. Crack The Skye bored the hell out of me for the most part.
| |
Chorus sucks not a bad song though
| |
agreed hard dante
| |
That solo is decent, but the rest is very bland. I'll be checking in once the album artwork is released. That is something they've always excelled at.
And yes,
[Have a feeling their better days are behind them at this point.] X2
| |
It's cool. Feeling it will be even better mixed in with the rest of the songs.
| |
Don't have high expectations tbh. Will listen later.
| |
The riff got kind of annoying by the end. I miss Leviathan and Blood Mountain
Have a feeling their better days are behind them at this point. [3]
| |
I'm down. I do miss Remission through Blood Mountain days. But thats never going to happen again so I'll accept it. Riff on.
| |
I'm curious to hear what the rest of the album will sound like.
| |
Pretty meh, not digging the vocals on this at all
| |
its pr good, opening riff is swee
| |
If you tell yourself it isn't Mastodon it starts to sound a lot better.
| |
I liked it. Not the best thing they've written by a long shot, but it's a pretty catchy hard rock song.
| |
Ok song
| |
sputdyk queefed in excitement
| |
Fuck this song.
| |
growing on me for sure. starting to love it
| |
Troys cheesy vocal decisions are what ruined most of the hunter for me. At work so can't listen, but I feckin hope he keeps his bitch mouth shut where it needs to be..
| |
only cheesy vox on this track are brann's. i personally loved troy on the hunter though
| |
bore off dick ed
| |
It's a good'n
| |
So chubby
| |
chorus riff is good but overall song is lame
| |
< 3
| |
Well that was obscenely underwhelming
| |
This pales in comparison to even the filler on Blood Mountain. I'd take This Mortal Soil over this
any day.
| |
Song is okay. Sounds like Black Tongue. Chorus is great.
Both times I've seen them they have goofed the vocals way up and I assume they will do the same here.
| |
this was okay, nothing special but nothing particularly bad either. I guess no Crack the Skye 2 any time soon.
also, I didn't know Brann could hit a Geddy Lee like vocal range.
| |
this mortal soil rules i think you mean something more like siberian divide if you're talking bm filler pedro
| |
I really liked Siberian Divide...which, I suppose, speaks to my point. The first four albums were so diverse in style, pacing, and intensity that every song was great in some way. I haven't gotten that with The Hunter or this -- like seriously, does anyone actually listen to Bedazzled Fingernails outside the context of the whole album? I hate to sound like one of those guys that only likes their old stuff, but that's where the Mastodudes are heading for me.
| |
i find the hunter to be really diverse as well. i actually do listen to bedazzled fingernails on its own. the only song i don't find myself listening to is blasteroid, but i find that song really works in a live setting.
| |
"i actually do listen to bedazzled fingernails on its own"
Well, I stand corrected. Different strokes for different folks. *sigh*
| |
It's pretty good, although the chorus is rather cheesy.
| |
Pretty great!!
| |
Love it!
| |
The solo is sick. Song's decent too.
| |
The verse riff is sweet, but I'm not too keen on the vocals, and the chorus just sounds really bland to me. Still have massive respect for these guys, but I'm kind of worried about this record tbh
| |
This is really good, I'm loving that chorus.
| |
Heard that this isn't the full version of the song.
| |
Ugh, song is bland, not very much progression.. not showing off their instrumental skill or their songwriting skill at all. This band is capable of much better, I am sad.
| |
This is cool.
It's a guarantee that it will be diabolical live though.
| |
Zzz
| |
Sounds cool enough. Sounds like a not quite as good version of The Bit by Melvins.
| |
bill wrote this song and he's not exactly the most accomplished song writer in the group so i'm not really too worried. excited to see some of the more brent related stuff
| |
That's encouraging to hear. Good job, Bill, you wrote an acceptable hard rock song.
| |
the weird thing is that in his interview bill said the song was 6 minutes....so i guess maybe they cut it down after that who knows, maybe this is just the single version. i doubt they would do that though
| |
pop metal lives
| |
well the intro riff was cool at least, thought it might've not sucked after hearing that but lol
| |
and wtf is this chorus
is this ozzy osbourne
| |
What an enjoyable song
| |
Does anyone think they just sound like Metallica a lot now? Iunno probably just me...
| |
Metallica sounds thin and boring now. This at least has some nice texture and harmony to it.
| |
thought this was a pretty cool track, jacked for the album
| |
That beginning does sound a lot like The Bit
| |
great song. great solo!
| |
pretty decent
| |
That beginning riff was so crunchy and promising, and then the vocals came in. I wish these assholes would put the fucking bong down and go back to making decent music, a.k.a. anything pre-crack the skye.
| |
I'm glad i'm not the only one that thought Crack the Skye wasn't great
| |
This is great. It's what Mastodon is all about. Sludgy and mean, which The Hunter, though is very good, it really wasn't a mean album. Listened to it 4 times and it's already growing more on me.
| |
this isn't that mean, and there's a couple "mean" songs on the hunter
blasteroid, spectrelight, black tongue
| |
Have to face the fact that they are never going back to Remission/Leviathan days. I have accepted the new vocals. Song was good.
| |
yeah that chorus is wack.
| |
dat opening riff...
| |
yeah chorus is unimpressive but not offensively bad id say. i enjoyed this, im looking forward to the album.
| |
Krokodil is better at being Mastodon than Mastodon
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lhmNYgA0eE
| |
that opening riff was great, but too bad the whole song is so predictable, and that the chorus is so weak. i like troy's singing in the verses though
| |
definitely waiting to see how this fits in with every other track on the album
| |
