The Birthday Massacre Update

2014-02-22 by Trey STAFF | 34 Comments
Industrial/goth artists The Birthday Massacre are making a new album and they're financing it themselves through Pledge Music. The band reached their goal in less than 24 hours and have already began to publish exclusive updates for Pledgers.

As of this post, there is still time for fans to make a pledge which will get them a pre-order of the upcoming album as well as exclusive updates, videos and more. In addition, fans can pledge a bit more and get a number of additional items including signed vinyl copies of the album, T-shirts and a few items that are much more extravagant.

More and more bands seem to be going this route. I pledged for the last Flotsam album. Will do the same for these guys.

Good to hear that these guys are making an album again. I do hope that this upcoming effort will be better than their last one, which was quite a drop from their Pins & Needles album.

I can't wait! I love all of their albums. The last one was also amazing IMHO, just wish that it was longer.

Pins And Needles was great, the newest one was one of the biggest letdowns for me ever. Here's hoping its a return to form.

Pins and Needles was really good and I think that's why Hide and Seek was kind of a letdown. If it had come after Walking With Strangers, I don't think it would have been received as negatively.

Not sure, Willie my boy. I think Walking With Strangers is the album with their best songs, but Pins and Needles was more solid all around.

I think 'Violet' is their best, but Pins and Needles is definitely their most consistent.

Also, just pledged $10 for the digital. Really thinking about dropping $40 for the Vinyl too.

I wish I could pledge more, but I guess getting a singed album is pretty sweet as it is.

It took me some time to really warm up to Hide & Seek. After the hard rocking, high energy album that was Pins & Needles it definitely felt like a step back. But honestly all they did was tone down the guitar riffing for much more atmosphere and I've come to really appreciate that. Seeing those songs performed live also helped win me over; I'm so glad they had Alibis on their set-list last I saw them. My only real complaint about that album is that it's over far too quickly.

Their last album was really their only one that wasn't amazing. Hopefully this one gets them back on track.

Kinda worried about the new album, cool how they funded it though.

We'll see what it sounds like.

The album reminds me of Violet. This is a good thing.

Destroyer is far better than Down. Although I think a little more could have been done with that crunchy guitar riff, it is a little monotonous. Still digging it though.

I'm not going to listen to anything from it until my copy arrives.

Both tracks are really great, Destroyer sounds like it could be on Violet.

I seriously need to buy their albums already.

I've listened to Pins And Needles and Walking With Strangers countless times.

CD is quality. I like H&S more though. But I am of the few who liked H&S more than P&N so I'll quietly exit with this opinion :P
