Saw this coming with how busy Chino is with Crosses and Palms. Its all good though, they've been hard at work ever since Diamond Eyes with recording and touring so they deserve a break. Hopefully we'll be able to hear Eros within the next couple years too.

Eros would be nice, but I'd also like to hear new material. It does suck that they're taking a break though. This could just end up being one of those things where they never end up getting back together.

as someone already said this means they will be working on new work this month. so it was only the end of 2013 they were having off. Title is wrong.

I think they probably would've done on a break in the middle of last year had it not been for the fact they were already being promoted for shows throughout 2013 and had an album to support. They probably need this break to let the events of the past year sink in (considering Chi finally succumbed to his injuries in April, which must've been a pretty big shock to the system) and consider their next moves, be it a proper new album, planning a potential release of Eros, or both.

Yeah, he mentioned they would like to release another record before dropping Eros (if they still wish to). Even though I would like to listen to new Deftones, it's better for them to take a break and not write tunes in a rush.

I saw this on flippin loudwire and the title totally tried to make it sound like they were breaking up. I almost cried.
Then I read the article and realized it was nothing. They're taking a break, thats not a big deal.

These guys tour really intensely, so it's to be expected that they take a breather for a while. I am excited for the new Crosses LP, though.

A break will do them good. Diamond Eyes was superb. Koi no Yokan was welcome, but a step down for sure.
