Production could've been dirtier but this is sounding pretty good so far.
| |
There's no way this isn't going to be at least the best metal album of the year. Unless Gorguts really outdoes themselves.
| |

It's 2013. The production sounds exactly what it should sound like.
| |
"It's 2013. The production sounds exactly what it should sound like."
True!
| |
yea clean and lame :D
| |
"It's 2013. The production sounds exactly what it should sound like."
Agreed 100% I don't pay premium money for my sound system to have my music sound like it did from my
Walkman back in 93.....
| |
can't wait
| |
kicks ass thus far
| |
agreed llama make everything as loud and stop start as possible i dont want any human noise just robot periphery sound without dynamic range cos its 2013 :D
| |
The production could afford to be a bit messier, yess
| |
I love that people insist that if death metal doesn't have the Morrisound production or something equivalent from the early 90's that it sucks. Sorry, but it's not 1991 anymore and not everyone thinks they should sound like Bolt Thrower, Dismember and Entombed. Entrails still does, but hey.
| |
didnt say it sucks just that i would prefer a more murky dm sound bro i need filth in my ass
| |
This is going to rule.

Carcass, Drake and GTAV - September 17th
| |
you can bet your ass ill be blasting this while going on rampages.
| |
Captive Bolt Pistol was AWESOME and this sounded pretty cool as well. Album will rule.
I think the clean production suits it.
| |
the production is clean but calling it overproduced is a bit of an exaggeration.
| |
Nothing wrong with the guitars, they're kinda typical modern sound but not bad, main issue is the
plasticky drums which make the blasts sound blegh
Music's pretty good though, still looking forward to this.
| |
The single ruled, hope the album will too.
| |
Sweet.
| |
wtf
| |
not bad
| |
17? gonna be waiting like a bitch for this one
| |
I didn't even see the release date. September is giving me so many new albums, it's gonna be great.
| |
it's still good seriously
drums sound like ass though
| |
Ewww that production is terrible and so is that clip.
| |
I love the production.
| |
Yeah, there's really nothing wrong with the production at all. It's crystal clear and nothing is competing for dominance - which seems to be the problem for most people opposing its sound - that it's not "raw" enough.
| |
^^^^^No, there is a huge difference between overproduced and a perfect tone so you can hear the instruments but make it not sound like a robot. Go listen to Heartwork or Necroticism and that's what I'm getting at. Judging by that clip, it shows that Nuclear Blast has taken the reigns and curbed Carcass in a direction that will make them sound squeaky clean just like they did to Suffocation (and killed Suffocation for that matter).
| |
idk man the production on heartwork is pretty bad too
| |
prod was better than immo butt still wtf
| |
"idk man the production on heartwork is pretty bad too"
i cant believe i just read this.
| |
I love the production on Heartwork, but that was also made in 1993 - this is 20 years later and rightfully should sound a bit more modern. Like I said before, there are still bands making death metal records with that old sound, and doing it rather well (Entrails, Funebrarum, Tribulation, etc.) - maybe Carcass simply just didn't want to be one of those bands. It could be a be grittier yeah, a bit more human even, but the album IS called "Surgical Steel" which implies things being razor sharp and clean (at least it does to me anyway). I just don't think this is really as over-produced as people are making it out to be, it's what a 2013 death metal record should sound like to me. I mean, it's not like it's a Dimmu Borgir album or something.
