fucking awesome
|
| |
This band is never going to be as good as they used to be again.
|
| |
The was gonna say the entire album has been streaming for awhile.
This is just the vocal version. So far instrumental is better...
|
| |
instrumental of this was fucking awesome, so is this. love the blasts
and agreed jav i have to say i prefer the instrumentals so far. nothing against loic his screams just arent strong enough
for this band imo
|
| |
Absolutely agree the screaming is the vocal weakness for sure.
His cleans have been improving but still not great.
|
| |
I reserve judgement until the release date. If I had to judge based off of the two vocal versions of the tracks I've heard, I would agree though. Their first three albums were practically immaculate, and since then they've definitely taken it down a notch.
|
| |
Not up to the par with songs I'm used to hearing from The Ocean. Though I'm starting to lose a little bit of faith in these guys because the first two singles have not been good, Anthroprocentric was a step in the right direction so I'll reserve my judgement until I hear the new album in it's entirety.
|
| |
new MASTODON. nice.
|
| |
uh, this is the third new song js
|
| |
Better than Bathyalpelagic II, and Bathyalpelagic II was great. Bathyalpelagic.
(If they're going to make me learn how to spell that shit I'm going to get my mileage god-
Bathyalpelagic-dammit.)
|
| |
these are all pretty good, the two (ahem) Bathyalpelaic cuts and the longer one, Hadopelagic II. this one feels a bit more like it was written as an instrumental and the vocals were added later, but it's great nonetheless.
Rossett's harsh vox may not be the most thunderous, but there's something to be said for his ability to make the lyrics discernible through the screaming. I'm really liking his work on Pelagial so far.
|
| |
fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck this is awesome
|
| |
Pretty good.
|
| |
i love this band but i don't love loic. nothing against the guy. just don't think he's right for this band.
|
| |
This band is never going to be as good as they used to be again.
Why? This is the best thing they've done since Aeolian. I'm just going to pretend this was intended as an instrumental album cuz the vox ruin it for me.
|
| |
the instrumental version's been streaming for a few days now, kicks sooo much ass
|
| |
Wiz it was intended as an Instrumental loic just got over whatever his illness was and they did a vocal version as well.
Probably didn't hurt staps wrote the entire thing himself for the most part.
|
| |
Not sure why you guys dislike the vocals so much.
|
| |
pretty good, good, good.
|
| |
Easy cuz they are not that great
They had some great vocalist before, I don't mind cleans but at least get someone better
|
| |
I'm jamming the instrumental so hard, so it's awesome to hear it with vocals. This album is right up there with Precambrian, if not higher.
|
| |
Matter of opinion. Can you give me a specific reason (or reasons), though? Saying something isn't that great usually is accompanied by a reason for why it isn't.
Example: I dislike Nicki Minaj. Why? Because her "songs" are repetitive, have off-pitch vocals, she has an obnoxiously awful tone, horrendous lyrics, no discernible interest in writing interesting vocal lines, etc.
Do you not like the vocal lines as written? The delivery?
I don't know, man. I just think a lot of people unfairly wrote the guy off for little reason and he's getting "the new guy" treatment.
|
| |
Then again, the albums I have 5'ed are Oceanic, Calculating Infinity, and Alexisonfire, so clearly my taste in vocals is quite odd compared to most people out there seeing as how the vocals on each of those albums traditionally rub a lot of people the wrong way.
|
| |
Yeah I never got why this guy has gotten so much shit. He's a totally competent vocalist. There are way worse singers in metal that no one complains this much about.
|
| |
"Yeah I never got why this guy has gotten so much shit. He's a totally competent vocalist. There are way worse singers in metal that no one complains this much about."
Agreed 100%
|
| |
So evidently I'm not alone.
|
| |
I miss the old Ocean style of using various vocals because I really dislike Loic
|
| |
There was a review comparing Loic's growling to Pilat's, I starting laughing simply because that statement is ridiculous. Pilat and Meta had power but not much range Loic has more overall range but his voice is weak.
Even Nico has better screams and his register is quite a bit higher.
If they let Loic do the cleans and had someone else take care of the harsh stuff you probably wouldn't hear as many complaints. His scream is decent at best but the overall reason most people don't like him imo is he just doesn't fit the band as well. Not to mention the vocals were too prominent on the last couple records.
Don't expect this to change anyone's mind but you asked for reasons.
|
| |
On the last albums before Loic, they used numerous vocalists and it's effect was perfect to me. Loic not only doesn't really fit the band, but his vocals are weak too me in both harsh and cleans.
|
| |
he's gotten better each time. I wasnt a huge fan on Helio but Loic has grown on me. he's not a bad vocalist, in fact I think he's become a good one. totally agree with DetectiveDan.
|
| |
I wouldn't say he's bad I guess but I'd see him fitting in with another band. Plus, their past works collaboration of vocalists all proved to be a better fit than Loic which is why I have a hard time opening up to him.
|
| |
Song rules. I'm hoping there aren't that many cleans on this album, I like his screaming, but his cleans... not my thing.
|
| |
I checked the instrumental and really am not feeling this album much at all aside from a couple tracks. I miss Precambrian and early Ocean days.
|
| |
it's hard to compete with the vocal battery from the first three albums. maybe Loic is suffering from Ripper Owens syndrome.
|
| |
i think for a lot of us it's hard to accept that this is still "technically" The Ocean. stupid as it sounds, i'd have an easier time accepting the last few albums if they would change their name and not try to claim this is The Ocean. this is a completely different band than that which made Fluxion, Aeolian etc etc. then i'd be thinking hmmm this new band is decent instead of thinking what the fuck is, this isn't The Ocean.
|
| |
The Ocean had always been the Robin Staps Project anyway. I've been following them since shortly after Precambrian came out so I guess it's easier to accept for a newer fan.
|
| |
Good song but I really had high hopes that I was going to be able to pronounce at least once song on this record, hopes are now shattered
