Blur Plan New Album

2006-11-11 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 5 Comments
Blur have hinted that they may record a new album next year, and have re-affirmed their statement that the door is open for estranged guitarist Graham Coxon to return, reports NME.com.

Coxon was fired from the band in 2002, for what Damon Albarn cited as problems with his "attitude," which seem to have included failing to show for recording sessions and appearing emotionally distant from the other members. Said bassist Alex James: "I think we'd all like to make another record. We'd all like to do it with Graham, we may have to beg him a bit though."

Blur recorded 2004's Think Tank without him, however Albarn admits they were unable to fill his absence, musically and personally. They've invited him to reunite on numerous occasions, however the success of Coxon's solo career and a perceived lingering hostility towards his former bandmates makes such a reunion unlikely.

For whatever reason I though Blur broke up in the 90's. Maybe this will be good.

Hopefully Graham will be back for this.

I'll check it out if Graham rejoins, otherwise I'm not really interested - I didn't like Think Tank.

I'm not a huge Blur fan, but Damon Albarn has talent up the butts. I'll listen in with an eager ear. This Message Edited On 11.13.06
