I think I might cry... Kerrang! has some sickly obsession with bad pop-punk...

Muse may be good, but Matt just doesn't have it live (they don't suck as bad as Reel Big Fish live, but close enough.) And of course, everything else is too...wrong for words to explain. Slayer/Placebo is what little saving grace they could have had. This Message Edited On 08.24.06

I really like Muse, but they are not the best live band in the world.

Everything else on that list is a joke. I think they were trying to look slightly diverse by putting Angus Young on there, too bad he sucks too.

Commenting on this is just as bad as being on the staff that picked these results out of a hat.

Naming Lost Prophets latest album as the best album is so stupid. That album just came out like 1 or 2 months ago i think. And it is bad.

Why is anybody surprised by this? Kerrang is nothing but a mainstream magazine that tells its pop-punk consuming, rock/metal poseur clientelle what they want to hear.

Yeah, the list is atrocious. But can any of you say you didn't see this coming? "Kerrang Makes Crappy List! In other news, Samuel L. Jackson is black."

I miss Kerrang, it used to be so good.

by the way for those who don't know, the nomination voting process for best "british newcomer" was done on myspace, thus the bands with the biggest friends lists suceeded. So it was between Bring me the Horizon, Enter Shikari, The Blackout, Brigade (who suddenly become very respectable on this list) and someone else equally rubbish.

And thus completely ignoring more deserving acts such as November Coming Fire and Gallows, not that they are massively interested in winning an award from Kerrang anyway.

Muse has had some excellent live performances and are supposed to be close to the top, but there's no way they beat bands like Radiohead of The Flaming Lips.

Kerrang use to be pretty cool to be honest. Now it's just a magazine little girls buy every week to see what colour eyeliner Gerard Way is using. Good call on Muse though, they're an Incredible live act. The rest of them though are just poser Emo bands (except Placebo, Prodigy and AY of course)This Message Edited On 08.25.06

I still can't tell if this is for 2005/06 or for all time. If the latter is true, I have the urge to light a campfire with Kerrang's newest issue.

Muse is excellent live, buddy. Bellamy is such an insane guitarist/pianist/singer, and they're only a three-piece. I wouldn't say they're the best live act ever, but they're close to tops.

I would have expected something like this from the culture whores at Rolling Stone but not from one of the pioneer's in covering the 80's REAL metal scene.

I think by best band on the planet they mean the most popular band to 13 year old girls and tone deaf people alike. I mean I digged them for about a month and then I gave it a real listen and it fell off quick.

I doubt you are, or the list wouldnt be like this.
People have different opinions, you obviously are a pretty big pop-punker, and there isnt anything wrong with that. Most people here are probably not going to agree at all though :

Steerpike nailed it, I didnt expect anything more from Kerrang! I remember a few years ago hearing that Kerrang! had named Good Charlotte the best band ever. We should just pat Kerrang on the head and tell them they did a very good job, and then walk away really quickly and pretend that they never made that list

I actually didn't mind Enter Shikari out of the best new band nominations. Although they are local boys so maybe that biased me.

This makes me think of the song "Get in the Ring" by Gn'R. As for the list, I haven't seen anything this pathetic since the Rolling Stone list of the top 100 guitar players. (How the hell are Johnny Ramone & Jack White higher than David Gilmore & Steve Howe?!?)
