In the case of Renee, she had been given conflicting commands by ICE (one told her to drive away while another told her to stop and get out of her car) and had also been allowing other ICE vehicle to pass in front of her so it wasn't as if she was being belligerent or refusing orders. Because of the amount of confusion law enforcement (and untrained monkeys like these ICE scum) like to impose on civilians, Renee was caught between having ICE commandeer her SUV while also being told to leave. In a fight-or-flight response, she attempted to drive away which resulted in her murder.

Most people are not going to be able to quickly process contradictory demands while also having their vehicle broken into and not have some sort of panic response. Renee did not have any expectation that she would actually be shot because her presence there was inadvertent and unlucky (she had just dropped her kid off at school less than 10 minutes away).

Thank you for clearing it up for me. The incident is even more cursed than it appeared.

If Trump is salivating to invoke the Insurrection Act in order to suspend the midterms, this is the route you take. I’ll second the folks that say don’t arm yourself if you feel like you won’t be a responsible gun owner. I’m wicked depressed, so I sympathize but I know that the safety of my mother and (queer) roommate is more important than whatever woes I have. If these fucking monsters want to fuck with them they’ll have to go through me first.

And let me also point out that you can still be of great use without being a gun owner. Volunteer at a food bank, join outreach programs, help local politicians that align with you build grassroots movements… there’s a million things you can do to help. I hope I tbh doesn’t come to armed revolution, but better to be safe than sorry, especially when these freaks are openly talking about how they want to fucking kill us.
