Got it, but I'm on my way out, so I'll listen when I get home.

Downloading now, will listen after psychology class.
|
| |
A Nightmare to Remember leaked as well, I downloaded them both a few hours ago and they're both quite boring.
|
| |
downloading
not expecting much at all
|
| |
Song is horrible.
|
| |
my download fucked up
probably for the best
|
| |
Hm, my download got screwed too. I'll wait until someone says the song rocked...

Ha, doubt it'll happen. This Message Edited On 05.06.09

Instead of bothering downloading, I just went to YouTube. It's not worth the trouble though.
|
| |
A Nightmare to Remember is even worse.
|
| |
You're all women
I thought it was ok. Nothing amazing though.

Was not expecting that, that was pretty much a watered down version of In The Name Of God. Fantastic solo, but way overdone.
I didn't really like Constant Motion either, but still thought SC was a great album. I still have hopes for this.
|
| |
Am I the only one that loves both new DT songs?
|
| |
A Nightmare to Remember is even worse.
Sad, but true. I thought SC was a pretty good album, but it doesn't seem like they're even trying anymore.

"Am I the only one that loves both new DT songs?"
Only heard this one so far, gonna youtube the other one. I don't love it but it's decent enough. Vocals are meh though.
|
| |
It's ok, I'm hoping it will grow on me...I'm sure there will be better songs than this on the record
|
| |
it seems unlikely since there are only 6 tracks as it is.
|
| |
Neither of the new tracks are doing it for me.
|
| |
it seems unlikely since there are only 6 tracks as it is.
Yeah, so that's 5 more that can be better...
|
| |
i'm not gonna lie, i love both of these tracks. fuck you guys.
|
| |
a rite of passage sounds like a bad case of metallica copycatting with a mediocre chorus
woopie for DT not being as good as they used to
|
| |
I like them a lot, perhaps because I don't listen to Dream Theater that often. ANTR is pretty epic if you ask me.
SC sucked monkey balls btw. Octavarium was their last good album, but this'll change it, hopefully.
|
| |
dream theater sucks
|
| |
ANTR is great, what with all the balls out metal shit going on. That is the direction I wanted them to take.
(and A rite of passage is growing on me because of those infectious ass riffs)This Message Edited On 05.06.09

The beginning kinda reminded me of Elegy-era Amorphis....pretty decent song nothing too great but I like it more than Forsaken
and Constant Motion. Will listen to ANTR next.
Did anyone else read the track-by-track review metalhammer gave this? The reviewer said this was their best album in 10 years.
He specifically said that The Best of Times and The Count of Tuscany were prone to become classics.

I did but I don't buy anything about that hype (this guy did the DT biography ffs, will blow up anything).
|
| |
not a bad song I guess, but generic by DT's standards.
I agree, don't think they really give a shit anymore. New CD=$$$ for them
|
| |
I like ANTR a lot more, thats a really good song.
|
| |
for what is a fairly commercial metal track, AROP is pretty fucking awesome. listening to ANTR now and i'm pretty impressed so far. i wasn't too keen on their last couple of albums, but i'm excited for this new one now!
|
| |
Lol at all the Dream Theater fanboys comments on youtube about the "black metal vocals and blast beats" in ANTR.
|
| |
yeah as much as I love Dream Theater I really hate their fanboys...theyre so fucking stupid its hilarious.
|
| |
I think the new songs are quite good.
|
| |
Heard "A Nightmare To Remember" and it was okay. Not exciting by any means. Awesome intro though.
|
| |
Downloading, not expecting much based on these comments.
I put in a fake cell number though. No way I'm giving that away for a free song.
|
| |
Heard the first 10 min of ANTR and it was actually pretty good.
The clean part stood out rather nicely.
|
| |
A nightmare to remember isnt that bad. A Rite of Passage isnt really too good. its not bad, but not good.
|
| |
Why can nobody make a cool album cover anymore!? The art is way too polished and fake looking and has no edge. At least Heaven and Hell had a cool one...
|
| |
The artwork is great. I mean, seriously...
|
| |
Benzum Green Day are a pop rock band. Dream Theater are a progressive metal band. Comparing them just shows how much of an idiot you are.
|
| |
I'm not gonna get into this cos I feel like crap, but they are totally different bands. If Green Day were progressive metal (hahaha) then you could compare them til' the cows come home, but they're a totally different band so just deal with it.
|
| |
eh? whatever. Your annoying.
|
| |
Just listened to A Nightmare To Remember, like it a lot.
|
| |
satan
|
| |
Was not expecting that, that was pretty much a watered down version of In The Name Of God.
They recycle exact riffs from older albums blatantly and purposefully. At least I hope it's purposefully. This generic metal and hard rock direction Dream Theater's taking is whack. They just follow Mike Portnoy and his "bawls" vision.
|
| |
To be honest I think Constant Motion is better than this; I really did not think it could get worse. Also, A Nightmare to Remember really is a nightmare (lulz). It's so horribly disjointed in places, and Mike's brilliant ideas (read: shit) are just icing on the fail cake.
|
| |
Wow, that solo is epic as hell. CD will rule hardcore.
|
| |
"CD will rule"
I hope not. It would be a horrible leader.
|
| |
feels like a slightly watered down Systematic Chaos track, but I'm pretty easygoing when it comes to music so it's satisfactory for me. I do like that main riff, reminds me of some middle east thing somehow. I'll have to check out the other...
okay I was listening to the song while writing this. Did they seriously just have a NES solo? god dammit dream theater
|
| |
"Did they seriously just have a NES solo? god dammit dream theater"
It gets better. The opening track has blast beats. This Message Edited On 05.06.09

Blast beats for the win.
|
| |
Not in Dream Theater.
|
| |
Yah I know. Blast beats for the win in Nile.
|
| |
The track was good, I'm looking forward to the last 2 songs the most though, something about them screams "epic." Ya know, or not.
|
| |
I just care about finishing the 12 Steps with The Shattered Fortress
And I heard from a little bird that The Count of Tuscany is hilariously bad. so bad
|
| |
ANTR rules.
|
| |
I hope not. It would be a horrible leader.
Fuck that was stupid.
|
| |
I listened to A Nightmare to Remember like 5 times today aha...I like that one more than than anything off of Systematic Chaos tbh. I really love the "In Peaceful Sedation..." part...and I dig the outro, love the keys and the blast beats work if you ask me.
But yeah that keyboard solo in A Rite to Passage is pretty gay.
|
| |
"Fuck that was stupid."
Lame? Yes. Stupid? No.
|
| |
This makes me like SC a litter more. I might bump it to a mighty 3.
|
| |
Lame? Yes. Stupid? No.
No, it was really fucking stupid.
|
| |
ANTR is nice for the most partmbut at least twice I know they're using an organ riff that they used in another song. I can't remember what, but it's so stupidly familiar it hurts
|
| |
finally listened to this. its an ok song, but the vocals are terrible
|
| |
Listened to 'A Rite of Passage' it was ok, ill listen to the other song later.
