Hopefully they're right so we won't have any idiots saying they've made the same album 4 times.
|
| |
What Steve said. I really hope this is exactly how Howard described it. Can't wait to see them live again.
|
| |
more like genericmetalcoreswitch engage, amirite?
but in all seriousness End of Heartache was a great record and hopefully they can put something out that comes even a little close to that
|
| |
If this is what they say it is, then I'll be happy. I don't want them to make another album like the last few, even if at least two of them were excellent.
|
| |
As Daylight Dies with bonus tracks was better than End of Heartache imo.
|
| |
If it really was more progressive than it might actually be good, except that I still wouldn't really like the vocals.
|
| |
It won't be progressive, thats just the trendy word to throw around these days to make yourself sound different. Seriously, every fucking band says this.
|
| |
As long as it isn't going to be their heaviest, yet most melodic.
|
| |
As Daylight Dies is better than End of Heartache. And Howard era is better than Jesse era.
|
| |
Saying As Daylight Dies is better than End of Heartache is like saying that eating baby puke is better than eating baby shit. What's the real difference when it comes down to it? Oh, but then you mention that Howard era is better than Jesse era and everything makes sense.
|
| |
This is going to rule. I perfer Howard era more, slightly because the guitars are stronger and then some because Howard has an awesome voice/ stage presence/ metal personality.
|
| |
Jesse has more passion and effort on stage, and he's better at screaming, but Howard has an awesome voice, when he chooses to use it correctly.
|
| |
The only thing better about the Howard-era is the drumming.
|
| |
And guitars.
And catchier vocal patterns. This Message Edited On 04.14.09

Howard's vocals ruin the band. He sounds the same in every song. These albums would all be better if Jesse was on them.
|
| |
This should be a solid album.
|
| |
Jesse is just more interesting, Howard has a better voice, and Jesse is a brutal screamer.
|
| |
Doubt it and na, Howard ruins the songs? Maybe when pigs start speaking spanish and take my farming job away from me. that last dvd of theirs is my favorite dvd of all time although I currently own four music DVD'S.
|
| |
This will probably be an average metalcore album just like "Daylight Dies"
|
| |
Ok, Balls. I can see now that you can't be reasoned with ;) Congrats on making Contributor (for the second time).
|
| |
Howard's pretty awesome live but I prefer Jesse on the albums.
|
| |
sides with wylie. enough of this howard hate.
|

--Jones disliked the band's sound when he first heard it. He commented "I was like, ‘Meh.’ I come from hardcore and dirtier metal, and Killswitch sounded so clean. But the more I listened to it, I realized there’s some really good songs here".--
Thought that was kinda funny.
I'm looking forward to seeing what the album's like, will probably be generic and not very progressive, but it'll be worth a few listens. Oh and both The Leach and Jones eras have their merits.

Blargh. I would love to discuss why I'm right, but I'll just say this and continue studying my exams: "Balls is right"
|
| |
I'm so stoked! fucking love this band. I hope they don't disappoint but I'm pretty sure they wont. Killswitch is the metalcore band of metalcore bands.
|
| |
As long as it isn't going to be their heaviest, yet most melodic.
You are starting to turn into a very funny staff member......
Saying As Daylight Dies is better than End of Heartache is like saying that eating baby puke is better than eating baby shit.
See what I mean.............
|

Thanks Wizard, it's the caffeine and sugar.
|
| |
"and we all pretty much agreed…gives it the feeling of a fresh new beginning.| Which means that they're also ashamed of their previous music which was metalcore faggotry and want to start anew just like AILD, Bullet and all the other Gaycore bands.
Starting off with something, then jumping on a trend and then abandoning it again makes you a double sell-out which automatically means you're a whore.

Maybe they'll move in the same direction as All that Remains and Still Remains' last albums. All the metalcore people loved those "progressive" and "mature" albums.
|
| |
That is a horrifying thought but I doubt Howard and Adam D would do that.
|
| |
The Serpent and Overcome, oh god no....
|

Maybe they'll move in the same direction as All that Remains and Still Remains' last albums. All the metalcore people loved those "progressive" and "mature" albums.
Zing, theres another one!
|
| |
I really doubt they'll make any real progression here-but It should still be a solid album.
|
| |
I hope they make progression, but I do doubt it. At the very least, it'll be better than End of Heartache, even if I don't think it'll match up to Alive or Just Breathing.
|
| |
well depending how good their 'progression' is i have a feeling this will either be there best or worst album.
|
| |
i hope it has zazz
|

I am apart of the KsE Take This Oath fan club, and according to a letter I got from them the album was supposed to be titled "Riff Circus"...

Tool4u, do you honestly think KsE would name their album Riff Circus (its not serious or pretentious enough)? Also most fans would know Adam jokes about stuff like that pretty much all the time.

I sure hope the album sounds better than this looks.
|
| |
man, i'm really hoping they ain't exaggerating when hey claim it will be more progressive.
and also, i kind of see a trend in the shitty-ness of self titled metal(core) albums. eg: Avenged Sevenfold, Bury Your Dead, etc.
|
| |
so stoked
|
| |
I generally like metalcore but I find Killswitch Engage boring as hell.
|
| |
That album art is so bad.
|
| |
It's a leopard with a serpent's tongue man, its brutal!

album art is generic like the band geddit
|
| |
I dunno where this guy got the part about the album being more 'progressive'. I havent read that part ANYWHERE except here. I think its bs.
|
| |
You mean "this guy", being me. I read it in a magazine interview with the guitarist.
Bite me.
|
| |
What magazine?
|
| |
Metal Hammer I believe. And I took the quote as meaning progressive. Which is why it has progressive in inverted commas. It's Killswitch, I don't expect anything like proper progressive metal, anyone who does is retarded. Not changing it.

So, they've got Mastodon's producer; and by the looks of that album artwork, they're trying to adopt Mastodon's marketing strategy as well. I wonder if this new, "progressive" Killswitch will sound like Mastodon, too?
Q: "Killswitch is the metalcore band of metalcore bands."
I do agree with this statement, though.
|
| |
Has anyone else noticed... they already HAVE an album titled "Killswitch Engage" and this is their fifth album... not their fourth. Killswitch #1, Alive or Just Breathing, End of Hearthache, As Daylight Dies, and Killswitch #2.
|
| |
hopefully this is a change for the better, not that i didnt like their other albums
|
| |
i wonder if their definition of progressive is maybe having only one song on the album that doesnt follow the same formula as the others
|
| |
Everybody wants to be progressive these days. Prog is the new cliche.
|
| |
its because most bands want to get out of their genre or keep from being stuck with one sound, so theyre trying to be 'progressive'. what they dont know is that theyre just gonna get stuck in a different genre. only a few bands nowadays have really used the word progressive in their music
|
| |
i wonder if their definition of progressive is maybe having only one song on the album that doesnt follow the same formula as the others
Better not, they did that already.
|
| |
half boring/half rule...king k rule
|
| |
Starting off with something, then jumping on a trend and then abandoning it again makes you a double sell-out
Jump on a trend? wtf? They were one of the earlier bands to do the screamed verse/sung chorus stuff.
this is going to be just like their last two albums
and it is going to rule
Exactly.
