Jacko Tops MTV UK Album List 2009-04-09 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 19 Comments | MTV UK this week compiled its list of the 26 most greatest albums of all time- the other 74 will be broadcast on MTV UK on April 12- based on web voters' selections from a shortlist of 300. The only kicker? All of the albums post-date the foundation of MTV in 1981- but hey, 28 years is more or less forever, right?
The list was topped by Michael Jackson's 1984 classic Thriller, but that's not the surprise. Second place is occupied by Craig David's, um, forgotten classic (?) Born To Do It. Full list of 26 is contained below:
1. Michael Jackson – Thriller
2. Craig David – Born To Do It
3. Guns 'N' Roses – Appetite For Destruction
4. Radiohead – OK Computer
5. Nirvana – Nevermind
6. Oasis – (What's the Story) Morning Glory?
7. Oasis – Definitely Maybe
8. U2 – The Joshua Tree
9. Arctic Monkeys – Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not
10. Amy Winehouse – Back To Black
11. The Strokes – Is This It
12. Kanye West – The College Dropout
13. The Stone Roses – The Stone Roses
14. Eminem – The Marshall Mathers LP
15. The Smiths – The Queen Is Dead
16. Rage Against The Machine – Rage Against The Machine
17. Prince And The Revolution – Purple Rain
18. REM – Automatic For The People
19. Usher – 8701
20. Pixies – Doolittle
21. The Notorious B.I.G – Ready To Die
22. Lauryn Hill – The Mis-Education Of Lauryn Hill
23. Human League – Dare
24. Jay-Z – Blueprint
25. Dizzee Rascal – Boy In Da Corner
26. Mary J Blige – What's The 411?

predictably poor list
| | | wow Craig David
I mean I expected this list to have the generic bunch of "classic albums" and some terrible ones thrown in, but really, Craig David?
| | | LOLWAT?
18, 4 and 16 are the only ones that deserve to be on any greatest list. Well...I hear alot of good things about 20, but I'm yet to hear it.
| | | I can't understand more than a few of these. Extremely surprised MTV UK didn't put any Rolling Stones in the top 25. Then again, it's MTV.
| | | amy winehouse gtfo
| | | Champ Kind is pleased w/ 2
| | | Why do almost everyone always pick the wrong Jay album?
I think Thriller, OK Computer, The Joshua Tree, and RATM all belong on a list like this.
Usher and Nevermind....not at all.
| | | Usher and Dizee Rascal? What?
On the other hand, it's not much of a surprise. Magazines don't often do a great job of lists like this.

Well the Stones haven't released anything good since long before 1981.
Well I sure hope that the remainder of this list has some of the great albums before 1981. Time is irrelevant to classic records.
| | | This has to be joke.
| | | Oh my god... funny as hell. Amy winehouse at 10 and led zeppelin at ahem...
| | | Craig David should be #1
| | | lil kane
| | | he doesn't need no chart position.
