Velvet Revolver To Split?

2008-03-21 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 17 Comments
According to several fan reports, Velvet Revolver singer Scott Weiland announced the group's impending split at Thursday night's show in Glasgow, Scotland.

Weiland reportedly told the crowd: "You're watching something special... the last tour by Velvet Revolver." Weiland is planning to reunite with his former bandmates in Stone Temple Pilots for a tour this summer, having disbanded the group in 2003, while bassist Duff McKagan plans to release the second album by his side-project Loaded.

Drummer Matt Sorum appears to have confirmed the singer's sentiments in a blog posting Friday, but insists the drama may easily blow over: "So last night was interesting. Had a little band turmoil on stage, as you probably all could tell.

"Being in a band is a lot like being in a relationship. Sometimes you just don't get along. I guess there has been more turmoil lately, I guess, with the cancellations and all. It has been frustrating, I am not going to lie.

"My career and life in rock 'n' roll has come with its ups and downs. Unfortunately, some people in this business don't realize how great of a life they have. Touring the world, meeting great people and fans all over the world. And just playing music for a living. I feel truly blessed. But sometimes the road can be draining for some. Being away from home and family does grind on you sometimes. With all the travelling and different beds. Personally, I love this shit and sometimes can’t believe I am so lucky to still be doing what I do for a living.

"Everybody could see who was unhappy last night, but all I can say is let's keep the rock alive, people!!!! In this life, you just pick up and keep moving. And don't ever let anybody stand in your way."

Audioslave maybe.

Would be cool if Weiland got together with STP again and made a kickass record.

pfft, Supernova was a crappy fake band made by producers so they could sell their american idol type show. Audioslave was for real, and was #1, Velvet Revolver was #2.

Well thats too bad. I thought they were capable of putting out some great albums down the line. Then again I never though Weiland was a great fit for this band, so maybe they werent.

Led Zeppelin in all fairness were Supergroup #2, #1 was Cream, or maybe The Yardbirds, as the members of all these bands were alreay well'knon musicians or from popular bands before each group formed.

The best musicians don't always make the best music, plus egos are a big problem aswell.

Never cared for Velvet Revolver, and if they have split, expect to see billions of rumours about Slash and Duff on "Chinese Democracy".

Fuck Chinese Democracy! There's a reason why that album is named like that.

This is my favorite "supergroup," if you want to call it that. Theyve played countless shows around my area, pity I never got to see them.
