SOAD to reunite at Coachella?

2008-03-14 by Alex101 | 19 Comments
System of a Down singer Serj Tankian has been added to the lineup of this year's Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, scheduled for April 25-27 at the Empire Polo Field in Indio, California.

With Scars on Broadway, the new band featuring System guitarist Daron Malakian and drummer John Dolmayan, previously announced for the festival, it's likely that speculation will start about whether the musicians will get together for a surprise System reunion. The band has been on hiatus since the fall of 2006, with Tankian releasing his first solo album, Elect the Dead, last fall. The Scars on Broadway debut is due out this summer.

Also added to the Coachella lineup this week was Aphex Twin, Goldfrapp, Redd Kross and several others. The ninth annual event will also feature appearances by Roger Waters, Jack Johnson, The Verve, Death Cab for Cutie, The Raconteurs, The Breeders, Portishead and many more.

Malakian recently told MTV.com that System's hiatus may be permanent, saying, "If anyone's holding their breath for a System record, they're going to turn blue and pass out. It's a long ways away, if it ever even happens."

123. Also I'm not expecting anything good out of Scars on Broadway seeing as it's Daron's show and when he runs the show it sucks most of the time. Plus Elect the Dead was hecka average, and I think System passed their prime with Toxicity.

Steal This Album was good. If they do come back though, just don't let Daron sing most of the songs

For all intents and purposes, they're broken up. Sorry to burst the cloud you live on.

This won't happen.This Message Edited On 03.14.08

just thinking that's a pretty sick lineup. roger waters, portishead, goldfrapp. i wanna go
malakians a good songwriter but as a singer is painful. i'd be interested in an end to their "indefinite hiatus" tbh, as i still consider myself a fan after hypnotize.

I find it funny that it's rumored with Coachella. Wasn't that where RATM played their first re-union show? It's almost like

"Hey, those Rage against something folks pulled of quite a PR stunt with their re-union at this Coachella thingy, let's do this too!"
