Dustin Kensrue goes solo.

2006-06-12 by Stormy Smiley Face | 8 Comments
Dustin Kensrue has announced now that the plans before of his acoustic album being released under the name Ursus Veritas will instead just be titled Dustin Kensrue. The Thrice frontman has met with people on recording the album and guarantees the release of the album will happen, just that there is not set release date. Some songs that will appear on the record have already been leaked. Those are "Folk," "Round Here," "Madman," and a cover of Radiohead's most arguably popular song, "Creep".

Does that mean there's no more Thrice??

I seriously doubt that. This is just a side project and I'm sure there will be a new Thrice album in the next three to four years, if not sooner.

Thank God. I *heart* Thrice. Still interested in this though.

You can dowload loads of his songs from www.waterispoison.com good quality too.

I wouldn't bother buying an album though.

Thrice are also *apparently* back writing for a new project. It was going around the thrice boards for a while, and Nick the manager has mentioned this too a few times. So who knows.

I will clarify all of these things. Dustin Kensrue is not "going" solo. He's just finally recording all of the covers and original acoustic songs he's been writing for a long time under the name Ursus Veritas. I got to see him live doing this stuff in the summer of 2004. It was AWESOME. Really a great show.

Well, he will be releasing an album as Dustin Kensrue, not Ursus Veritas. Although the songs aren't entirely "new" and original, it is still technically a solo album.

I might enjoy this more than I enjoy Thrice, because I can't appreciate screaming in music, although Thrice seem to be great songwriters. I'll be sure to check it out.

At a show last year in October, the band kept having guitar problems so while they were trying to fix them, Dustin went on stage and played stare at the sun accoustic by himself and it was some of the best music i've ever heard.
