Amy Lee Is Misunderstood 2007-12-04 by Aakon_Keetreh | 10 Comments | Evanescence rocker Amy Lee has blasted the perception of her as a moody Goth - insisting she's only miserable when she sings. The singer claims she channels all her pain and hurt through her music.
Lee tells the New York Post, "People think I'm brooding or depressive because that's how our songs sound. Songs are this outlet to get out my deepest fear and hurts, but I'm a pretty happy person. I'm not the way the girl underneath this music sounds."

Regardless of the questionable talent of Evanescence (I actually liked that Daredevil song), Amy Lee brought up something I'd been thinking about recently. Most good art comes from dark times. When we're happy we enjoy the happy, it's when we feel like crap that we are driven to painting, making music, writing, etc. Nothing revolutionary, but still kinda cool that Amy Lee brought it up, even if she was complaining.

If she can get the guy from Cold (Terry, I think his name is), who I consider to be one of the best "writers" in modern rock, to make terrible music, she's got talent.
