Weezer playing with new sounds?

2007-09-15 by Electric City | 15 Comments
A Weezer fanboy, who also runs Weezer's myspace, posted a bulletin on myspace declaring Weezer's 6th LP will be released in 2008 sometime, with a whole new kind of Weezer sound. Included in the post was this:

"The vibe is healthy, full of dialogue, cooperation, forward thinking and interested experimentation. The sound is definitely weezer, but not quite like any weezer I've heard before. Or rather, not like any one style that weezer has ever tried, but a fresh combination with some new flavors on top. It sounds as if the band has grown into a new land that they had previously only skirted around the edges of - a land where arrangements are getting adventurous, where song structures, lengths and feels are given plenty of sunlight and fresh water and allowed to grow into what the songs demand. It sounds really cool. Like an excellent music farm. Or perhaps a food co-op."

Will this be the return to Pinkerton we've been begging for for over a decade? Is a Rivers Cuomo project really full of cooperation, dialogue, and forward thinking?

Probably not.

What's the point of them making a new album? Make Believe was so horrendously bad that it seems like it would be impossible for them to make a good album ever again. They should just break up altogether.

Sounds like what every other band says...

"It still sounds like the classic ______, but its got a totally fresh new sound that ______ has never done before!"

It'll probably be an album full of This is Such A Pitys.

God help us.

They will just be a plain bad band until Rivers starts writing decent lyrics, not this lazy "We Are All On Drugs" shit.

Oh, and "This Is Such a Pity" was probably the best song on Make Believe haha...dear God, I forgot how bad that album was...

This is Such a Pity is ridiculously horrendous. Pardon Me and Freak Me Out were the only things that saved it from being a plain awful record, but the rest was terrible. This Message Edited On 09.16.07

As much as i want to expect it being better then Make Believe, i just dont have it in me. The only reason I still have sympathy for the band is because of Blue. epic album
