There's no copyright conflict between 'Children of Bodom' and 'Bodom After Midnight'.

COB was the Alexi Laiho band, and this will be the same. It's not like the music will sound any different

They ended on a good note, and the only reason he doesn't own anything is because he didn't want to deal with it IIRC (not smart, but i mean it's the Wildchild we're talking about). They probably aren't trying to milk him dry or sue him, which might seem hard to grasp this day and age.

Something Wild is their only album I can fully enjoy, personally I find all their other albums to be a mess in terms of sound work, arrangements etc..

I strongly beg to differ, everything else that came after Something Wild merely stretched the recipe, imho band could have rightfully dissolved right after it.

and? they just released one of their most popular and best received albums in years. and i don't think we have a reasoning as to why the other members left as of yet.

regardless, clearly there's a lot of love left for this band in the metal fandom, so i guess i just don't understand what point you're trying to make.

Something Wild is a total mess of an album, but one of their best and a firm keeper. This is as meme-worthy as anything Alexi's done post-Hate Crew Deathroll but bless him for sticking at it. Hexed was solid but a little predictable, will be interesting to see if this puts a fresh wind in his sails

when something is over, it's over, and that goes for everyone, whether he/she is a fan or a musician playing in a band.

You know, if it were up to the bands to dissolve whenever their members felt like it and not due to their management or their intention to have a new album out just to be eligible for touring, we would see band discogs of 4-5 albums max, and much more interesting music overall, because musicians would be compelled to leave their comfort zone and explore with their colleagues in different outfits.

i don't disagree per se, but i feel alexi is a musician's musician and i don't think he'll ever stop making music. for all intents & purposes "children of bodom" is DONE. should he stop making music now? quit the biz? does he need to drastically change his writing style? or maybe he writes this kind of music b/c he loves it? is it over b/c you don't enjoy the product, or b/c they have nothing left to say?

i think we (definitely myself included) get a little selfish sometimes when it comes to thinking what a band SHOULD be doing.

Agreed. From everything I've read semi-recently, I think it's pretty clear that the touring life is pretty much in his blood at this point. Dunno if I'll ever be SUPER excited for anything new he puts out, but power to him for sticking at it
