DGD Remaster Acceptance Speech

2019-08-30 by hobblepot | 48 Comments
Dance Gavin Dance have released a remastered version of Acceptance Speech, titled Acceptance Speech 2.0. The remaster has been rumoured for a number of years, with the bands hardcore fan base requesting since the album initially came out.

The original LP was produced by Matt Malpass, rather than the bands go-to producer Kris Crummett, and was criticised often by fans for its flat production quality, and overproduced vocals.

Along with this remaster the band have also dropped the instrumental version of the album, keeping with their schedule of releasing every album instrumentally on the last Friday of every month.

You can stream the remaster and it's instrumental on whichever streaming service you prefer.

It's got a little more oomph to it but it still sounds like acceptance speech. Probably would've been better to re-record it.

Definitely sounds better, although I never hated the original's production quality to the point where I felt like a remaster was required. What's even more impressive is that Tilian has confirmed that we'll get more singles this year leading up to their 9th album in 2020. This band has consistently shat out gold almost annually now for 15 years. It's nuts.

Yeah this definitely sounds better, I still wouldn't rate it higher than the original. Songwriting was the weakest point here, pretty bland for DGD's standards.

I didn't even remember Doom and Gloom going that hard at the end omg. Tilian sounds so much better everywhere. Hard to believe it's been 6 years since this dropped and my DGD obsession began and now we have this.

>and Tilians voice is WAY less overproduced

I am so happy. I like Tillian, but some producers LOVE to fuck with his voice and make it too squeaky-clean.

I also had no idea they were releasing all albums' instrumentals! I've always hoped they would. Their work is so typically dominated in the mix by trading off vocals that I could never 100% focus on the complex instrumentation as much as I wanted. This'll provide a nice alternative listen for their work. Great news.

I've never listened to this album for some reason, despite being a fan of their 3 most recent records. Maybe this'll give me the push to finally spin it.

it actually sounds like tilian re-tracked the vocals. i know that isn't the case, but it's that level of difference.

Remaster of DBM I would be fantastic. I personally think DBM II is perfection as is.

Edit: oops, misread that. Lol. Statement stands, but yeah instrumental for Happiness would be amazing too.

A remaster for DBM would be amazing. The album sounds so muffled, but it's really a gem. Wishful thinking
