HYPED

Doesn't even need a remaster but sweet m/
| |
Nice dude! As you know this is old news, but an actual release date is promising. Kinda want to preorder it, but also wouldn't mind hearing just a snippet prior
| |
i just heard hawks cum
| |
I'd check the remaster for sure, though I kinda like the original mix for its "dusty" vibe
| |
Nice nice
| |
I saw an interview (or read? can't remember) where they said they literally cried when they heard the final mastering after the album had been completed. Apparently they said all their hard work was ''ruined'' whatever that means, I don't know, I guess we'll find out. This is a long time coming. They've wanted to do this for a very long time probably since the album originally came out.
I think maybe some of the subtleties or orchestration were lost in the original mix or something, maybe we'll hear them on the remastered version. The original definitely sounds muddy.
| |
Re-Mistressed
| |
Muddy is not a word I word use to describe the original. It's more paper thin than anything, and the kick drum is sounds nothing like an actual kick drum.
| |
It is muddy because the guitars at some points just sound like noise and no distinguishable riffs come out of the mud.
| |
Shit's gonna be CASH, yo.
| |
Same here Thalassic.
| |
"Muddy is not a word I word use to describe the original. It's more paper thin than anything, and the kick drum is sounds nothing like an actual kick drum."
Exactly. It's almost like the kick is the snare and vice versa lol. Still love the original though.
| |
Doesn’t even need a remaster [2]
Still fuckin hype as fuck for this because my fav band ever as you all know and have been waiting forever for this. Will be amazing just like the original. m/
| |
It does need a remaster. I probably won't like it more than the original, but it needs it because the version we have isn't what the band's vision was and they deserve to get what they heard for themselves out there.
| |
Agreed with that ahrd. Can’t fucking wait.
| |
Finally a release date! I am so hyped!
| |
I think it's one of those albums that we can all agree kinda sounds like crap, but is so incredible that it doesn't even matter.
| |
I don’t think the sound is as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. I mean it’s not perfect by any means but it adds to the charm of it, for me at least.
Will never not listen to anything these guys make though lol.
| |
i don't think it sounds like crap at all lol, i think the production it currently has is filled w/way more character than most other black metal albums are made w/
| |
Either way, this album is a classic.
The “original” Dusk ended up being a 5 for me along with the one we all know and love. No reason this remaster can’t do the same. m/
| |
Well then i'm over here just agreeing with myself then (:
| |
Spirit, why do you say the original version wasn't what the band wanted it to be? Where did you hear about this / what is the general story?
| |
This album doesn't need a remaster, it's great as it is.
| |
"Spirit, why do you say the original version wasn't what the band wanted it to be? Where did you hear about this / what is the general story?"
"The production and mixing for Cruelty and the Beast has attracted some criticism, particularly for the sound quality of the drumming.[1] Sarah Jezebel Deva revealed on the band's official messageboards: "[The production is] absolute rubbish. I remember when I first heard it — Dani played it — I walked out with tears in my eyes. I had spent twenty-five hours working in the studio on that album and it sounded like I had my head in a toilet [...] most of my vocals you couldn't hear."[2] After walking out of the room after Dani played it to her, she claimed to have bumped into drummer Nicholas Barker, who also expressed his dissatisfaction.[2]"
| |
I'm not sure how Dani felt/feels about the OG mix but I can only assume if they are coming out w/a remastered version instead of just an anniversary version w/extra tracks and such he was also unhappy w/how it ended up sounding.
| |
He says it's been remixed and remastered, new keyboards added. He says it sounds fantastic and the quality and production are improved.
| |
Yeah Dani hates the production on the original. He’s said it many times over the years.
| |
Hype for a remastered?
I'm getting old
| |
I’m hype for anything COF related lol.
| |
;)
| |
Damn, that sucks, cheers for the response though.
| |
I never understood why they didn't like the production on this. As a matter of fact, when I first listened to the album I didn't even notice anything funny (was a bit of a noob when it comes to metal at the time though).
Hyped for this anyway.
| |
I also really like the production on the original. It suits the thinness and ghostly vibe I get with Elizabeth Bathory really well. Plus it's very unique in a way.
I understand why some band members were disappointed/angry with it though.
| |
For sure dude! Very curious to hear what they do with the new one.
| |
It’s gonna rule no matter what. m/
| |
true dat
| |
I heard Elizabeth Bathory didn't even post nudes to CoF fansites. Poser bitch.
| |
Yeah very curious to hear some new details that weren't noticeable in the original mix. Hope they release a "single".
| |
I don’t see them doing that. I don’t think they did that with Dusk but I might be mistaken. Can’t remember lol.
| |
No I don't think they will. But who knows we'll get a snippet before release...
| |
A snippet is def possible. The hype is real. m/
| |
Cruelty was a great album, an unique pearl at late 90's. Now, they have remastered it and I must say the main change I can notice is the drums prescence. Finally, Barker's work is put where belongs.
