Slaps surprisingly hard.
Corey sounds great, nice to hear a Slipknot song with more than 2 riffs m/
| |
any relation to Colin Firth?
| |
I've never listened to this band before, but didn't think they had riffs and parts like at 2:22, generic metal core sounding sure, but admittedly more metal than I presumed.
| |
wow this is really good, surprisingly. hopefully the rest of the album shapes up to be this way.
| |
I fucking love this actually. Such a cool and eerie video too.
Did any other horror fanatics like me catch that shot of Dr Decker’s/David Cronenberg’s serial killer character from Night Breed in the audience with his mask on? Around the one min mark or so.
| |
Not bad at all
| |
Last album sucked but this one sounds promising so far
| |
Kinda surprised at how entertaining this is, wasn’t expected so much in a Slipknot track.
| |
I'm MUCH more hyped about The Boys tbh. The comic was great!
| |
probably worth noting in the article that the clips are from The Boys
| |
The shots of the crowd are from the show? I know it’s not him, but the guy was definitely wearing the same mask.
| |
kinda love it tbh
| |
"The shots of the crowd are from the show? I know it’s not him, but the guy was definitely wearing the same mask."
no I just misunderstood your comment, sorry
| |
Corey hasn’t sounded this manic in years.
| |
Seriously, give me a few more tracks of this quality and I'm buying the shit out of the new record
| |
might be my new fav slipknot song right away ngl
| |
Still shocked, never thought I’d hear them this invigorated again.
Best track in a decade at least.
| |
This is surprisingly awesome.
| |
it's good, and better than Unsainted but still not impressive, something's missing. This is the last track in the album btw.
| |
holy shit I don't think I've ever seen so much positivity in a slipknot news thread before.
songs slays and hopefully there's more of this on the record m/
| |
"something's missing"
OG rhythm section will always leave a big void in that regard. Haven't listened yet but if Corey's harsh vocals don't sound like dogshit it could actually be good.
| |
It always bugged me the way Weinberg mimmicks Joey when he's swinging around like a nutty, ugh.
| |
Yesssss. Loving both singles so far.
| |
This is surprisingly awesome. [2]
| |
Hahahaha I came in here waiting for some cool jokes about how inevitably lame this would be. What a nice surprise! I'll actually listen to this later based on your guys' feedback.
| |
These are one of the most uninspired vocal lines I've ever heard.
| |
wow that was amazing what the fuck
riffssssss
| |
this new song rocks hard m/
| |
Yeah this was surprisingly really good. Freshest thing they’ve put out since like 2008.
| |
gray chapter was the freshest thing since 2008. it's way better than AHIG
| |
Noticed that a bunch of the songs are 6-7 mins. Also seems like a good sign. Really looking forward to this album now.
| |
They’re back!
| |
As Dave mentioned, this is the closer of the album. And Unsainted is pretty much the opener (there’s a 1 and a half min interlude before it).
Innnnteresting...
| |
gray chapter was the freshest thing since 2008. it's way better than AHIG
No. Although Sarcastrophe might be the best song off those two albums (only one that might be just as good is Gematria).
| |
Slipknot sounding like Slipknot and not like B-Side Stone Sour? Very nice indeed.
| |
Oooooh, noice!
| |
Agreed with everyone else, if this track is indicative of how the album sounds, I'm gonna pick this up on release day.
| |
this slaps
| |
Skeptic, Sarcastrophe, The Negative One, and Custer were better than anything off AHIG imo
| |
Same old shit.
Sounds like 2nd hand Machine Head from 2003
| |
Agreed, doof. Band is trash.
| |
Wouldn’t be a Slipknot song without ‘band is trash’.
| |
Pika, I would like you to talk about a band you actually like. Sometimes I wonder if there are any. The floors is yours
| |
Anyone think the kick drum sounds kinda weird though
| |
Butt, I got a whopping 149 fives among my ratings. Not exactly the pickiest type out there.
| |
"Band is trash"
Actually, does anyone else hear that pretty thrashy riff in this song?
| |
why does it seem you only comment on bands you hate then lol
| |
Chorus riff thrashes to a certain extent.
@bloc sounds a bit too loud in the mix on my speaker. The guitars sound far chunkier than Unsainted though which is weird.
| |
I wasn't fond of AHIG and .5 was decent at best but I'm loving this track
| |
why does it seem you only comment on bands you hate then lol
I swear that's because you go on like five threads. Most of my comments have high numbers next to them. My average rating is like 3.8.
| |
Corey's new mask still ain't great.
| |
@bloc
if you're talking about the verse after the initial break... I think it sounds weird because they're using the keg with the same cadence as the bass drum
| |
"Skeptic, Sarcastrophe, The Negative One, and Custer were better than anything off AHIG imo"
Gematria, Sulfur, Psychosocial, This Cold Black, Wherein Lies Continue and All Hope Is Gone want a few words with you.
| |
The intro was kind of cool, then when the whole band kicked in I got bored fast. Though I guess it's decent for Slipknot.
| |
psychosocial is probably my fav guilty pleasure song ever, but I would never try to convince anyone it's actually a great song. gematria is pretty good, sulfur is decent, then...meh
| |
Butt, seriously, if you stop only going on BN, menzingers and slipknot threads, you'll see I am actually very easy to please.
| |
"@bloc
if you're talking about the verse after the initial break... I think it sounds weird because they're using the keg with the same cadence as the bass drum"
Dude good call, that's exactly what I was referring to. Sounds a bit more normal later in the song.
| |
Paul and Joey are clearly missing in their songwriting, it still feels like an half assed Slipknot imo
| |
The real stinkers on AHIG where Vendetta and Butcher's Hook, the rest was from decent to great, Gehenna it's my guiltiest pleasure tho.
| |
@pika I guess why I'm wondering why you do spend so much time on BN and Menzingers threads if you hate them lol. Naturally most people will spend more time discussing things they enjoy, right?
| |
btw I'm all over the place too, half the time I'm on death metal threads so
| |
Sulfur is one of the best songs on AHIG imo
| |
I go on all threads. I am the omnipresent Pikachu. Also, I haven't gone on a Menzingers thread in a long-ass time. But I will sure do once the new album drops ;)
| |
I look forward to your pre-determined 1 lmao
| |
Not going to rate it.
| |
Skeptic, Sarcastrophe, The Negative One, and Custer were better than anything off AHIG imo
I don’t know man, The negative one is alright, but I just can’t get past Custer’s lyrics. They’re too try hard edgy. Snuff is another track I love from AHIG. Only song off Gray Chapter I like more is Sarcastrophe — I also love the beginning interlude XIX
| |
I only rate stuff that I think might change my opinion on a band. Like what's the point of me rating AHIG if I went into it, knowing it won't change my mind about Slipknot?
| |
yeah, I agree. not worth the time.
"but I just can’t get past Custer’s lyrics. They’re too try hard edgy"
yes I can't deny that, they're not good lyrics. But it's still so fuckin heavy and juicy, I love it
| |
Riffwork actually rules
I really did not expect a melodic semi-metalcore song from Slipknot
| |
does anyone think his twangy accent in the beginning is kind of annoying?
| |
people like this?
| |
people like this?
Yes.
| |
Yes [2]
| |
"does anyone think his twangy accent in the beginning is kind of annoying?"
Yeah Corey's delivery in the beginning is kinda goofy but the rest of the song goes
| |
Btw did they get a new member to replace Oscar the grouch?
| |
Honestly this is pretty fucking solid. Way better than anything off .5
| |
@bloc
they got a new member to replace Chris (long nose mask)
no confirmation on who it is though. the fanbase has collectively dubbed him "tortilla man" because his mask looks like a tortilla
| |
This is the first slipknot song I've ever liked
| |
Fucking love it. Bring on the whole album
| |
Ayyyy this is very good!!!!
| |
“does anyone think his twangy accent in the beginning is kind of annoying?”
It’s literally the biggest risk he’s taken with his vocals in like 15 years give him a break dawg
But in all seriousness I dig it. It’s kinda off-putting and obnoxious but it works. Makes him sound “deranged” but not in the stereotypical Slipknot/Corey Taylor way that we’ve all heard a million times.
| |
I've heard worse from these guys.
| |
"@bloc
they got a new member to replace Chris (long nose mask)
no confirmation on who it is though. the fanbase has collectively dubbed him "tortilla man" because his mask looks like a tortilla"
Lol just saw it
| |
On the real, this is one of their best songs.
| |
I'll say I like the riffs, was never to big into this band though. I mean I guess I liked something from this band so theirs that. Which I won't go to hard since I do find their song Wait and Bleed and Vermillion to be alright.
| |
Oooh this song is pretty good. Nice chorus riff
| |
There’s a chorus in this song?
| |
Song shreds around 2:22. Some decent riffs and drumming, and Corey doesn't sound as strep throat as he has been. Not bad.
| |
Listened to Sarcastrophe for the first time in awhile and yeah, it beats this by a little bit. But I’d say this and Gematria are tied in second as far as their best songs since AHIG.
Sarcastrophe just goes hard as fuck.
| |
Iowa was the last album I truly enjoyed although I dug Vol 3 well enough. This is surprisingly good though. Might jam the album
| |
Is it safe to say Slipknot is back...... probably there best song in years!!
| |
Vol 3 is my favorite. AHIG actually has a handful of good tracks, but it’s inconsistent and mostly dull. Grey Chapter — I love the first three tracks and that’s it. Not good for a 14 track album.
| |
I'm... I'm actually excited for this album. This is pretty cool.
| |
This is the best the band has sounded in a LONG fucking time. Please tell me this is more of what's to come.
| |
Slipknot hype confirmed
| |
Can’t stop listening to this lol.
| |
same tbh
| |
Great track, looking forward to this one. The Gray Chapter was disappointing, this seems promising.
| |
New song is great, looking forward to the album m/
| |
I'm curious about the rest of the platter, I hope it's in the same vibe. Plus, I am hyped to see them again live with the new setlist
| |
this might be the first Knot album I enjoy since Iowa
| |
The thing that is missing from IOWA are all the death metal riffs .. intensity is there, but death metal influences and riffs is what made IOWA so brutal
| |
you will never be one of us
| |
Not bad for a band that should have quit a long fucking time ago
| |
I hope they change their riff game cuz it was super boring on Gray Chapter.
| |
This just kind of sounds like Unearth minus the godawful clean opening
| |
It’s okay, I think I need a few more listens to let it settle. Album will be a good listen no doubt.
| |
Loved this but yeah the opening sounds really weird
| |
Finally listened to this.
Musically it's.. fine. Half of it is typical post-2004 Slipknot, the other is oddly reminiscent of early aughts melodic metalcore.
Corey sounds terrible though. Don't know what this weird dog bark is he's had going on the last few albums but it sounds like shit here.
| |
"Corey sounds terrible though."
I'm pretty sure this is the one thing we can all agree is not true. He sounds better than he has since Iowa
| |
I kinda agree dunno
Still dig the new tracks
| |
hardly anything can beat prelude 3.0
| |
Did I just enjoy a Slipknot song?
| |
Yes you did. I did too.
| |
This sounds even better after the 2nd time
| |
[2] so does Slipknot tbh
| |
nah it's not that deep
| |
Neither are you!
O O F
sorry bro

this shit trash
| |
New Slipknot is trash just like old Slipknot. in fact all of Slipknot's music is garbage
| |
holy shit shut the fuck up
| |
I am le supreme music critique and I thus hereby declare every slipknot song le piece of trash. Now bow down to me, you nonelitist plebians!
| |
melonfart wouldn't know a good song if it kicked him in the taint
| |
Why is it always some new account with less than 30 comments talking the most shit? You guys get banned on your main accounts for being toxic losers lol
| |
melonfart wouldn't know a good song if it kicked him in the taint [2]
| |
New song owns
| |
Lucca is the law of the land.
It does own.
| |
New song indeed owns
And who the fuck are melonade13 and satanicaleve?
| |
my favorite part is the weird attempt at being les claypool in the beginning of the track
| |
"Corey sounds terrible though. Don't know what this weird dog bark is he's had going on the last few albums but it sounds like shit here. "
Hahahaha, and I thought I was the only one thinking what's up with that angry dog growl. To be fair though, he hasn't sounded exactly the same on each record, always changing it up. And I've heard him sound much worse (2005 Roadrunner United, ugh). 1998-2001 was where his harsh vox were the best without a doubt.
| |
I don't think he sounds terrible tbh, but surely his vocals aren't as intense as during the period you mentioned
| |
still an improvement over Gray Chapter
| |
yes, big time
| |
even if this is better than usual slipknot, its just boring meh stuff. so yeah
| |
Nah, been listening to it throught the day and it's still pretty good, and growing.
| |
Same as faraudo.
| |
Y'all gotta remember that he's been doing these harsh vocals for like 20 years so it's bound to take a toll on his throat. Surprised he can still yell the way he is with that considered.
| |
Yeah, some peeps want him to still be able to sing like when he was on his prime lmao
| |
If this had some more lofi ness and weird noises and DJ scratches it could perhaps pass for a vol 3 b side or something
| |
Indeed, it does need more weirdness. With the first 3 albums they didn’t even have to try, all the bells and whistles came naturally
| |
His voice doesn't bother me really, it's the songwriting itself that needs something else to be more than "ok", add more kick ass riffs and some cowbell or else for crying out loud
| |
Are you talking about this song specifically? Because the whole thing except for the intro is a kickass riff. Which could alllmost be a criticism of its own
| |
Feeling these current songs much more than The Gray Chapter.
| |
"Y'all gotta remember that he's been doing these harsh vocals for like 20 years so it's bound to take a toll on his throat. Surprised he can still yell the way he is with that considered."
"Yeah, some peeps want him to still be able to sing like when he was on his prime lmao"
lmao, ya'll are gonna act like there aren't plenty of singers/screamers who have kept their voices intact over the years. he's not even yelling anymore he's like just angry talking
| |
I can't think of any screamer who has kept the same exact voice over the years. It's not just a matter of taking a toll on your vocal apparatus, vocals change with age in any case, even if you use a perfect technique
| |
I think his vocals slay on this track, most maniacal he's sounded in like 18 years.
| |
yeah, he sounds unhinged finally.
| |
This fucking rules.
| |
"lmao, ya'll are gonna act like there aren't plenty of singers/screamers who have kept their voices intact over the years. he's not even yelling anymore he's like just angry talking "
No not at all, but it's not as "abundant" as the amount of people whose voices turned to shit.
| |
unsainted and solway are the best tracks they've released before an album in a LONG time. This album has massive potential.
| |
Hard disagree, The Negative One is 10x better than Unsainted
| |
Love it!
| |
That was way better than l expected
| |
Hard disagree, The Negative One is 10x better than Unsainted
Yup, but Solway Firth is ten times better than The Negative One.
| |
Corey sounds fine. Voices change and it would be crazy for anyone to expect the insane energy that he had on their initial releases to be present at this point. Dude is getting pretty old where harsh vocals are concerned.
| |
Yeah, he doesn't sound bad actually. There are tiny inflections at the end of a few of the screams where you can hear a bit of the sheer brutality of the early albums. But yes, it's mostly this higher screaming throughout.
How's the song though? Still not sure, but this isn't really the type of riffs I associate with Slipknot honestly. Too thin sounding.
| |
I like both the song itself and corey's vocals
| |
This is the heaviest they’ve sounded in ages. Corey’s performance is killer
| |
Just started watching The Boys
| |
That sounds illegal
| |
Why hasn’t this leaked yettttt
| |
never thought i'd dig a new slipknot song in 2019
| |
There's another new song and it's really good. Not as heavy as this one, but great!
| |
The whole album leaked
| |
Shit, give us a liiiiiiiink
| |
It’s real easy to find and I am not allowed to do that
| |
Kingdom leaks ffs
| |
How are people still sleeping on Kingdom Leaks? Baffles me.
| |
laziness
| |
in case anyone still doesn't know, there is a website literally called hasitleakedyet.com and they report where it leaked
| |
Or you could skip that step and go right to KL and see if it's there
| |
get outta here with your logic n shit
| |
KingdomLeaks for dayyyyyzzzzzz.
| |
