New Starbomb song, video 2019-04-05 by DatsNotDaMetulz | 17 Comments | Comedy hip-hop/nerdcore trio Starbomb have released the first track from their upcoming third album The TryForce, out 19 April. The song, "Blowing the Payload", focusses on the characters from the hit video game Overwatch while stylistically taking its cue from 90s acts such as the Beastie Boys and Cypress Hill.
As seen on this track, the album is the first to feature additional songwriting from new producer Jim Roach (known for his work on Marvel Cinematic Universe soundtracks and for producing Ninja Sex Party's Cool Patrol), as well as live instruments from Tupper Ware Remix Party. Pre-orders for the album went live today (5 April).

As an animator myself, that was some stellar animation.
...Oh, right. The music was "meh".

so this was supposed to be funny?
| | | TWRP is a pretty stellar band but...yeah even they can't elevate this above a solid meh.
| | | not Car bomb, gotcha.
| | | Damn, I wish it was Car Bomb!
| | | Huh, so Egoraptor's still doing this stuff? I remember liking the Awesome series so much back in middle school because I was 12 and it was the perfect kind of humor for me. Now I can barely get through anything he does nowadays.
| | | I like Arin when he isnt forcing himself to be funny. I remember a few years back on the Game Grumps channel for April Fools they did a joke episode called 'Toon Grumps' where he and Ross discussed being animators and the struggle to achieve greatness, and it felt like they were actually enjoying themselves, in addition to the episode being very entertaining. Nowadays Game Grumps feels manufactured, like Danny and Arin would rather be doing other things than sit in-front of a Camera playing the latest Barbie game.

| | | The Overwatch references went right over my head, but some parts of this were funny.
| | | huh, surprised this was featured in news. Starbomb can really go either way and overall I think this was good. Animation was enjoyable, OW references were spot on, and the lyrics had enough humor to counterweight the cringe. iirc, it's been awhile since the last Starbomb LP so I'm interested to see how this one turns out. I remember showing my partner Starbomb vids like five years ago and her just being like, "what is this trash" lol. Also, did anyone notice the bm merch tshirts at the end of the vid?
| | | I think the funniest part is Dan's deadpan "Please can you help me I'm a 13 year old girl".
| | | this shit still goin? jesus christ
| | | good animation! as for the song, eh, starbomb will be starbomb
| | | what the fuck is nerd core?
| | | "Nerdcore is a genre of music characterized by themes and subject matter considered to be of general interest to nerds. Santa Barbara's Nerf Herder were the first band known to use the term in the mid-90s when referring to their nerdy themes, the term being a play on the “Nardcore” music of their peers."
