damn good track
|
| |
That solo is tasty as fuck.
|
| |
The beginning was kinda jarring but by the end it was ok. Love that artwork too.
|
| |
This is pretty great. That main riff threw me for the first few seconds but it grew on me. Solo was sweet. Vocals slay as usual. Album is sounding promising.
|
| |
Whoa everything on this track is top notch and puts the previous track to shame. Riffs are complex and winding, the drums are super tasteful, and then a melodic solo.
I'm listening to this on crappy earphones, but either the guitars are too low or the vocals are too loud?
|
| |
"I'm listening to this on crappy earphones, but either the guitars are too low or the vocals are too loud?"
Yes! I thought I was being nitpicky but the guitars did sound really low in the mix. They boost it up during the solo though I noticed which threw me. I thought it was the drums that sounded way too loud imo
|
| |
Yep, that's the other issue. The solo is so much louder than the rest of the guitars so it kinda feels like it pops up out of nowhere. That, and it gives the effect that the solo is merely "punched in"
|
| |
I liked the first track they released, but this is way better. This album is shaping up to be their best in years. And I love the album art.
|
| |
Listened to it on my lunch break and it slays, I hope they use the art for his this song as the art on the album.
|
| |
Both tracks are guud. Nothing that really grabs me like their best material but the album looks promising none the less. Seems like it's a concept album from some comments by the guitarist: http://loudwire.com/darkest-hour-timeless-numbers-exclusive-song-premiere/.
|
| |
This is amazing, damn
It's like Mastodon but good
|
| |
It's like Mastodon but good
haha zing
|
| |
the beginning reminded me of something from Undeceived by Extol, Renewal maybe
|
| |
Really good track. I'm pumped for this new album.
|
| |
Much better than the first single.
|
| |
"Seems like it's a concept album from some comments by the guitarist"
I'd thoroughly enjoy that if that's the case
|
| |
Ok this sounds way better on a different pair of earphones, i.e. the ones that came with my phone lol
|
| |
Vocals have a Spencer Chamberlein-esque quality when he does his lows, which I really like. I guess I'll always just miss melodeath-y Darkest Hour. Song was still pretty legit though.
|
| |
This fucking riffs.
|
| |
also love how they are adopting this whole metallic hardcore sound because they know how badly they fucked up with the last album *sips tea
|
| |
In a studio video they did Mike mentioned that there were "a lot of outside voices on the last album" and they were happy to have free reign on this one because of the crowdfunded approach.
It's nice to know that the missteps were more than likely brought on by the label they were with. I don't think we'll hear that sound from them again.
|
| |
"It's like Mastodon but good"
wow it must hurt being this stupid
hope this band can put out another good album, its been 10 years since the last one
|
| |
goddamn, i cant get over that opening riff. theyve never done anything like that before.
|
| |
Agreed. It kicks your ass right out the gate.
|
| |

Do you have a link to that video?
|
| |
That's gotta be Kris Norris on the solo for real
|
| |
could very well be, though i wouldnt be too surprised if it was Lonestar's either.
|
| |
ugh i am so fucking stoked for this.
|
| |
I need this album in my life.
|
| |
They have way more than two songs.
|
| |
Pretty sure they mentioned in a facebook post that the solo is Mike's guitar teacher who has helped them out since their inception
|
| |
"Do you have a link to that video?"

And yeah, the solo was Mike's guitar teacher. His name is John Connolly.
|
| |
Wow they all look kind of uncomfortable in that video, or maybe just camera shy? Hopefully it's not representative of some kind of dynamic in the band
|
| |
"And yeah, the solo was Mike's guitar teacher. His name is John Connolly."
well thats fucking cool. i mean, Mike's a nice guy and all but...could we switch him up for his teacher?
|
| |
"i knew the only guys who were gonna judge my ideas were my guys and they all are kind of like minded about what makes everybody kinda have a, you know, riff boner."
|
| |
they should just bring back Norris into the band at this point
song is great
|
| |
nah, with these riffs, Lonestar can stay.
|
| |
I can't picture them with 3 guitarists, and Lonestar certainly doesn't deserve to be booted to make room for Norris to return.
The Norris era will always be my favorite from them but I don't see him coming back unless they actually lose a member.
