well not really it's more splitting hairs if anything, the definition of a single doesn't necessarily imply it needs to be sold as far as I can tell

That's also not to mention that music format lingo has changed a lot over the years. I mean the terms EP and LP mean basically nothing in most contexts if you base them off their original intended use, but they've changed to fit the static that is the modern day with its progressing systems and shifting language
