Giant Squid call it a day

2015-10-08 by Sevengill | 20 Comments
Post-metal band Giant Squid have announced an indefinite hiatus, citing family commitments and a waning desire to continue with the hardships of touring. Frontman Aaron Gregory posted a lengthy explanation of the circumstances surrounding the breakup, explaining that "there are NO plans to write another album or play another show again." He did, however, leave the door open for a reunion under the right circumstances, and announced plans for vinyl reissues, a music video, and new projects by the band's members.

Giant Squid have two final shows scheduled in San Diego (Oct. 16) and San Francisco (Oct. 17).

The full post can be read on the band's Facebook page.

Aw man, that sucks haaaard. I'm just pleased they've left behind such a great discography for us all. Gonna go jam The Ichthyologist now.

The Ichthyologist is probably my favorite album of all time, though Leviathan and Oceanic are right there, too.

This is is too bad but not that surprising really. They only played like 15-20 shows a year as it was. They have some amazing material, although Minoans was somewhat lackluster.

:/ Always thought this band was a breath of fresh air in metal. At least they're leaving the door open?
