Kiko Loureiro joins Megadeth

2015-04-04 by manosg EMERITUS | 21 Comments
Brazilian Kiko Loureiro (Angra) is the new guitarist for thrash metal legends Megadeth.

In a brief statement on the band's website, Dave Mustaine wrote:

"I first met Kiko around 8 years ago for a cover shoot for Burrn! magazine. I had no idea who he was, other than the fact he was tremendously talented and that the staff from Burrn! held him in high regard. Since then I’ve come to see what a guitar virtuoso he is, and I’m deeply encouraged by his depth and talent. Very few Megadeth alumni have had the same feel and ability as Kiko. As Frank Sinatra says, ‘The best is yet to come!'".

The good news is, there's literally no way they can make an album worse than Super Collider.

Mega D is still in charge so I doubt things will change all that much musically.

This is still cool though. Kiko is a beast.

Might also be worth mentioning that Chris Adler will be drumming on the new album, but as far as I am aware he won't actually be a member of the band... just a session musician.

Broderick will always be best guitarist they ever had in terms of technicality, but the dude lacked taste and wasn't even allowed to write anything other than solos.
From what i've heard, Kiko has more sense of feel than him and can do more with less notes, so this may be a good thing.

Hope this collaboration will bloom some colourful ideas, although dont expect nothing new.

Megadeth was great and it always will be in our minds, no matter how bad album they make, Super Collider and 13 sucked ha

What's with Chris Adler doing studio work for others? I think he did the same for Protest the Hero if I'm not wrong

After that last stab in my fanboy heart, I have extremely low expectations for their next album.
