If I played guitar for a few years I'm sure I could play the same crappy basic chord progressions that
they use in their songs. How's that talent? Please explains to me how basic chord progressions are
talent when they are, by very definition, basic. All they do is invent different vocal melodies to go
over their rudimentary songwriting and bammo! new hit single. The guy has a nice masculiny voice
which is their entire money-maker, but that's it.

This is a real masterpiece. I love all the progressive dizzle dazzle wank and the avant-garde instrumentation. Early 5 for originality purposes. Gonna be a beast! AOTY

Anytime you need a serious Sally just look to a Nickelback thread. The first single was a little different from what they usually release so half of you sallies are already wrong. This is a standard plain Jane ballad that you can expect from them, but at least it has a positive message, too bad that's the only redeeming quality for me.

It's not hard for this band to disappoint but I can't help but feel more disappointed than normal after listening to this. 'Edge of a Revolution' was almost like going back in a time machine to when Nickelback just tried to rock, it was a breath of fresh air after nigh on a decade of pop infused drivel from the band. I was hoping the follow up single would be in a similar vein but it's just not and I'm kinda disappointed..

On the real, though, I actually listened to this and the amount of cliches genuinely astounded me. Like you would think that some of the flack Nickelback catches might be hyperbole or just unwarranted, but this song was just horrendous. Amazing as it is, after all these years, they remain consistently fucking awful.

Iron Maiden played the same two or three chord progressions for the majority of their career though. Stuff like that doesn't really matter as long as the songwriting skills are up to par.

I actually quite like old Nickelback, and I'm comfortable with admitting that. Not the greatest music ever, but easy to listen to and sometimes that's all I need.

Recently though, they've been getting much, much worse. It's almost like they've gone to a few Taylor Swift/Train/'other mediocre artists beginning with T' and thought 'yeah, this is the direction we need to go in.'
