Is this for real? If it is, just made my day.
| |
Cool. Hopefully, I will enjoy this more than Hats Off.
| |
Oh yes! I remember a small teaser from the studio on their FB page, wonder if it was from this song.
| |
Hmm, already? Seems like they just released Hats Off.
| |
stoked
| |
hats off was released in 2011 bloc
| |
Between touring and making albums, I swear these guys never sleep.
| |
Hats Off sucked, hopefully this is better
| |
Wow, nice. I 'Wonder what's next' :D
| |
Hats Off was great, what are u guys talking about
| |
Funny how I'm listening to 'Wonder What's Next' at this very moment. I'm excited for this and the new Sevendust acoustic album.
| |
Hats Off is their worst by far. Anyways, I'm stoked for this.
| |
i bet this makes everyone who bought their Greatest Hits album feel stupid
| |
I'm excited!
| |
Hats Off was a tiny bit disappointing, but I'm excited nonetheless
| |
Love the album name. This is a lot faster a release then we've typically seen before. Usually when they announce an album it won't get released for another four months. This is excellent news!
| |
Stallion you just basically said the same thing I said, but better nonetheless
| |
Oh whoops didn't notice that lol
| |

riffs, bass etc
| |
I'm starting to think the users on this site think that the last album a band put out was either their greatest or their worst.
| |
if a band has put out two albums, this is true
| |
Porcelain, not really. That may have been the case with Sci-fi but Hats Off is just boring and generic.
| |
great! gonna jam some of their stuff later
| |
Last album was solid. I'll check this out for sure.
| |
The first single is especially important with these guys. Some bands can redeem themselves from a weak single but Chevelle is not one of them. They're always so telling of how the album will play out.
| |
Hopefully this is better than Hats Off
| |
This band has been an abysmal pile of shit since Wonder What's Next. They couldn't even pull it off live when I saw them open for Alice in Chains.
| |
Such hate
| |
not really, i never saw them live but the music is solid as hell
| |
Not a great live band from what I've heard, but their studio output has been pretty top-notch all the way through
| |
That Chevelle/AIC concert was the greatest thing I've ever watched. The acoustic version of "The Red" made my heart fucking swell alright?
| |
Saw them live in a festival setting, they were really damn good. Definitely one of the better alt rock bands I've seen.
Hats Off to the Bull has got some killer tracks on it. Piñata is one of their best songs.
| |
can't fucking wait
| |
It's a good day indeed.
| |
Sweet. I've been in the mood for some Chevelle.
| |
Wizard is such a grumpy old man
| |
@fti
| |
hats off sounded like chevelle and I like chevelle so
| |
Hats off was was decent, better than Sci-Fi. That beginning riff from Face to the Floor... mmm yeah.
| |
meet the new chevelle
same as the old chevelle
| |
Sounded great live when I saw them, so pumped for this!
| |
Face to the Floor was an alright lead single, interested to see how this will turn out.
| |
I remember a time when all the Chevelle albums save for their first one were all rated 3.8 here, now Wonder What's Next has risen and This Type of Thinking has fallen
| |
It's a shame really
| |
I liked the equality.
Wonder What's Next is by far their best album though.
| |
Yeah easily but TTOT is soooooo underrated
| |
Hats Off should be like a 3.4
| |
Meh, it's been a while since I've listened to them, their last album was kinda disappointing.
| |
Pumped, HOTTB (contrary to what's being said on here) was pretty great in my eyes
| |
I'll get this
| |
I liked Sci-Fi Crimes quite a bit, didn't care for HOTTB as much. I have a soft spot for these guys.
| |
I was just thinking the other day that these guys are due for a new album. I hope it's not in the direction of "Fizgig", though.
| |
So they had a vote going for fan-made album covers, but it looks like all of them violated some sort of copyright. Just about every single finalist was taken down.
| |
wow. I believe a similar situation happened with the last sort of album, they had a contest for the same thing and the band ended up making their own cover in the end. weird
| |
ttot is their best
stoked tho
| |
Ttot is up there, but it's all about wwn
| |
Sci Fi Crimes is my favorite from these guys. Hopefully this can live up to that one. if not, then everything these guys put out is at least pretty sweet usually
| |
Hats off was great. Didn't expect all this hate.
| |
Somehow the name kinda dampened my excitement for this album... can't wait though
| |
Sweet, Hats Off was kind of disappointing, but I have a feeling they'll make up for that with this one
| |
Sweet. Love this band
| |
See I want this to be good, but this band has been steadily going downhill since Vena Sera...
| |
It feels like they JUST made an album because that album sucked balls and was easily forgettable...i demand more songs like panic prone
| |
Ah yeaa
| |
must've been one hell of a trip they had way back when
| |
Probably the same old trip
| |
the single is out! they posted it on their twitter... good for them, it sounds somewhat different
| |
New song is good, grooves
| |
gonna wait for the new album i want it 2 be fresh
| |
Wow they sound more like Tool than ever in their new single
| |
If Tool actually sounded like that I'll be happy
| |
If Chevelle sounded more like Tool I'd be happy.
| |
You know, I actually see a strong Tool comparison in this song. Needs more cowbell though
| |
I'm actually pretty impressed by this. After over 10 years, they give us one their hardest-hitting singles.
| |
reminds me of a heavier Face to the Floor.
| |
In case anyone was looking, here's the new single: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QB5gwwq6nas&feature=youtu.be
| |
I might as well edit the news article
| |
Awesome song! Hope the rest keeps up/gets even better.
| |
I've only given it a few listens but it might rank among their best songs imo
| |
It gets better every listen
| |
Sounds like any other Chevelle song. Is that a good thing? Most definitely.
| |
This sounds pretty good.
Haven't really liked a full album from them since This Kind of Thinking, but they've always had a few great songs on every album since.
| |
Wow they sound more like Tool than ever in their new single[2]
| |
The thing is that even though they bear a lot of resemblance to Tool, they aren't a ripoff at all. They take many of the best parts of Tool and turn them into their own
| |
Yeah but Tool will always be the better band.
| |
I agree they've always taken the best parts of Tool. But with the first five albums you still got the sense that they were slowly trying to dissociate themselves with that and then ever since the sixth album came out, it's like they just said "Fuck it...let's just sound like them again".
| |
Tool are the best band in the world. Chevelle are shitty imitators. I did like Wonder What's Next as a CD album though.
Send the Pain Below got the nostalgia in up.
| |
I wouldn't call them "shitty imitators", but they definitely borrowed bits of their sound.
| |
I've never really understood the comparisons between Chevelle and Tool. The vocals may sound a little similar sometimes. But to me the music is completely different.
| |
Please be heavy like Wonder What's Next. God, that album has some crushing riffs. The recent albums have sounded much softer in my opinion so I hope they get a little more heavy sounding.
| |
Tool is not the best band in the world. Chevelle isn't that similar besides the vocals at times.
The single is 3/5. The chorus isn't very strong imo
| |
Tool is up there though. Do not deny it man.
| |
Tool is up there though. [2]
I'd give it a 3.5/5 because it hits you pretty hard.
| |
but dat cowbell
| |
This actually sounds quite different from their usual thing.
| |
Being up there doesn't make you the best. I like plenty of Tool songs but there's a lot of pretentious bullshit with the band and their fanbase, not to mention some songs that don't appeal to me at all. I'd say they're good, but also overrated.
| |
terrible album name
| |
song rules, kinda excited for this new album now dang
| |
Other than that cowbell this song screams generic.
| |
I don't agree at all. This track is pretty restrained and smacks of a non radio sentiment. Honestly, I can't see this appealing to the masses at all.
| |
Honestly if you swapped out the vocals with Chad Kroeger's and made the production a bit more beefy, this could pass for a Nickelback song. I can see huge radio appeal for this song.
| |
Generic doesn't necessarily mean radio. The cowbell is the only part of the song that stands out from any other Chevelle song.
| |
Wow, not really. It would be one of the 'back songs that wouldn't chart. This track is just too slow and deliberate for radio appeal and it distinctly lacks major swells. Sure, it has a hook, but it not particularly hooky.
| |
The singer of Chevelle honestly has a pretty whiny voice though. He's never sounded this whiny before. A lot of bands with whiny male vocalists have been charting quite well (fun. for example), so all of that leads me to believe that this song has massive radio potential.
| |
| |
On the band's FB page, there has literally been nothing but praise from the fans, which is honestly a better response than Face To The Floor got. Considering how that charted, this may do well on the radio
| |
"Honestly if you swapped out the vocals with Chad Kroeger's and made the production a bit more beefy, this could pass for a Nickelback song."
lol is this a joke
| |
@Sapient I can see that. I am just saying that so far this record sounds more worthy of charting high.
| |
Chevelle's pretty much a radio rock band, I don't see how that's a joke.
| |
there is a wide wide wide chasm between the style Chevelle makes and the style Nickelback makes
| |
or even between Chevelle and a heavier (although shit) band like FFDP. Chevelle's music is just a hell of a lot more honest
and well-written
than a majority of mainstream rock bands
| |
Exactly, Chevelle will write a song about a conspiracy theory or something like that and then Nickelback is just "ooh get on yo knees we goin all the way tonight"
| |
Success comes to Chevelle easily anyways. "Face to the Floor" spent like 12 weeks at #1, so even if it isn't as radio-friendly, it doesn't matter.
| |
While the single will do well though I think, I'd really love to see them get at least a gold-certified album in the US again, but in this day and age it's sadly probably not gonna happen
| |
What was their last one? This Type of Thinking?
| |
yeah man, way too long ago. Hard to beileve that record is about 10 years old now
| |
I discovered these guys on Send the Pain Below.
| |
It was either that or Well Enough Alone I first heard from them. Actually one of the first bands that got me into music along with Tool, The Cure and King Crimson
| |
And all but one of them are releasing new material this year.
| |
How'd you end up at The Cure from Chevelle lol?
| |
Post-punk to progressive rock to progressive metal to Chevelle.
| |
It was all a way of my dad telling me, "Please, do not listen to that Avenged Sevenfold album"
| |
I'm your FUCKING NIGHTMARE!!!!!
| |
Mmmmmmmyeahh
| |
Glad I could help friend!!!!!1!1!!1 :D :D :D :D
| |
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
| |
GUYS
OH
MY
FUCK
ING
GAWD
| |
maybe this means in a few years they'll come out with a better 'Greatest Hits' album than that shitty one they have now
| |
Am I the only one who liked Fizgig from the greatest hits?
| |
Yep
| |
Damn
| |
When I heard Fizgig I was worried what the next album would sound like
But HOLY FUCK
| |
Well no doubt this song is leagues better than that one but still
| |
Didn't care for Fizgig at all
This new song rules though
| |
I think the thing that put many people off from it was the more-bizarre-than-usual lyrics, but when you get past lines about vegetarians and such, it grooves
| |
I wonder if this will be a radio hit
| |
Probably
| |
Fizgig ruled
| |
Good song. That bridge ruled.
| |
it's so good
| |
Does anyone see a slight similarity between Take Out the Gunman's riff and Point #1? This song's riff sounds like a slowed down version
| |
It's kinda good
At least it's fresh for Chevelle
| |
wwe sucks. wwf was cool.
| |
http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/chevelle-returns-in-april-with-la-gargola/ interesting to know what it's about, with songs like this one and Face to the Floor they seem to be moving more into talking about social issues in their lyrics
| |
envy came from hats off so it rules. New song is badass
| |
in before fti
| |
So, Amazon revealed track listing and album cover: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IL4K04I/ref=dm_ws_sp_ps_dp
| |
post it as news u lazy bitch hahaha love u man
| |
Wtf is that album art, looks like the cover of a shitty videogame
| |
Well, it's not that big of a deal. Although I just noticed the album clocks at 48:29, probably making
this the longest Chevelle release which is pretty cool.
Album art sucks ass I agree.
Fuck these edits btw
| |
I actually kinda like it. 48 mins, and 10 tracks? Oh my gawd maybe this is the first slight sign of
change! Maybe they aren't trying to keep each track under 5 min anymore!
We'll see, I'm stoked though. Can you imagine? A 7-min Chevelle song? I know...fucking crazy
| |
I KNOW RIGHT??!!! HOLY FUCK!!!
no but srsly, so stoked
| |
They keep making the same songs over and over again and but I love em.
Probably the only hard rock band aside from Alter Bridge still making decent music.
| |
Still better artwork that HOTTB. Also, first Chevelle record without 11 tracks? Sweeeeeeeeet
| |
Amazon released the song durations here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=sr_nr_seeall_2?rh=k%3Achevelle+la+gargola%2Ci%3Adigital-music&keywords=chevelle+la+gargola&ie=UTF8&qid=1393225057
Multiple 5+ minute Chevelle songs? Well this is new!
| |
I must be a weirdo then, I fucking LOVE the artwork. What is it that people aren't liking about it? It's just random and kinda hilarious.
| |
can't wait. If the rest of the album has as much flare as take out the gunman, I'd say we're in for a treat.
| |
this sounds dec. i'll probably check this out
| |
Take Out the Gunman kicks so much ass
| |
