Hall of Fame 200 Albums

2007-03-09 by FlawedPerfection EMERITUS | 26 Comments
The Definitive 200, a list compiled by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, lists the top 200 albums of all time. Here are the top 10:

1. The Beatles – Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band
2. Pink Floyd – Dark Side of the Moon
3. Michael Jackson – Thriller
4. Led Zeppelin – Led Zeppelin IV
5. U2 – Joshua Tree
6. The Rolling Stones- Exile on Main Street
7. Carole King- Tapestry
8. Bob Dylan- Highway 61 Revisited
9. The Beach Boys- Pet Sounds
10. Nirvana- Nevermind

More recent albums make an appearance in the top 50, including Norah Jones' Come Away with Me, Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill, and Green Day's Dookie. The list contains a large number of soundtracks and musicals dominating a surprising number of non-rock albums from the Hall.

Some of these raise a few eyebrows like Beyonce, Norah Jones and a few other. Kind of a bad list.

No offense to this list or anything, but this list should be called the top 200 best sellers list. Some of the bands on here are huge influences and some are just complete duds with no ear for music. Thats just my opinion.

Some albums that have influenced alot of people, I only think Nevermind should be forgotten and get somethign better like The Doors S/T, Radiohead's OK Computer or Queen's A Night At The Opera

The rest is good though

The list was compiled by the rock and roll hall of fame, I don't see anything in those paragraphs saying it was limited to only the rock genre.

Outkast's Speakerboxx-Love Below is 29th on this list.

Therefore it has no credibility at all.

I think you guys aren;'t openminded about music. There is more music than the music you like. So if that music is popular(Like U2) it will make the list.

Do you hear the word rap in the phrase rock and roll?
Shouldnt it be only rock and roll on the list?

No, I don't.
So what you're saying is, if your company name is based on one genre, you shouldn't make a list involving other genres?
That's like saying a user called metalfan101 has no right in rating a country album a 5.

A pretty ordinary list, I dont really know what the point of these "best ever" lists is, I guess to get people talking, if nothing else. I don't agree with it but I'm sure nobody @ Sputnik would agree with my best 200 album list either.
