What did you find mediocre about it? It's significantly better than Wars of the Roses. I'm mesmerized by it honestly. Lay back and listen to it with quality headphones and its just epic.

The Gladiator OST was pretty good, as far as I'm concerned, I'm not aware about the rest of his film scores, though.

I think it was the third track that was fantastic, but the latter half of the record isn't that engaging--especially the one with vocals. Decent, but not spectacular.

This is definitely miles above Wars of the Roses, so I'm glad.

His vocals should be utilised WAY more often.

He's a good vocalist, but I liked the instrumental parts of this album more than the parts that he sung.

I think he's pretty well fantastic, and although they kill at the instrumental parts he's still underused IMO.

Up to the third track so far. I was an Ulver virgin going into this, and damn if this isn't amazing.

Really enjoying this. Much better than WOTR, which was a disappointment following Shadows of the Sun. "Son of Man" could be one of their finest moments ever.

The build up and the entrance of the strings in As Syrians Pour In is just unghhh so good.

Everyone who likes the band should buy this by the way, especially if they know the financial problems the band's going through at the moment.

In a nutshell, what's their financial problems?

To many middlemen leeching off them means they can't actually make any money.... at all .... unless you buy straight from them or their bandcamp. Their last DVD sold well but made a loss. They are seriously worried they would have to quit music because so many people just took a bit of the pie until nothing was left.

War Of The Roses is hardly a disappointment, in fact it files under those rare cases of "half-finished" albums with great replay value.
