I liked the first single, but this one is waaaaaaaay better. It's like a mix of their standard heavy tracks with the post-rockier ones like Meridian and Carpe Diem.
| |
pwnage song
| |
WAAAY better than their other new song. This just gave me hope for their new album.
| |
So much better than the other song, hope restored
| |
Violins are a nice touch, glad that Dustin still has vocal parts. Overall a solid song.
| |
cool, enjoyed it
| |
SO much better than their first single. Now I am cautiously optimistic for their new album.
| |
decent
| |
i dont even like this band.
This song kicks my fucking ass. I absolutely love it. May have to give this a listen. Had no idea these guys were good songwriters. Reminds me a lot of such gold with some breakdowns.
| |
so relieved.
| |
Glad to hear these guys progress their sound, I love their past albums, can't wait for this one.
| |
Album will be a 3.5 hard
Can't wait
| |
i liked the first single, i like this too. album should be pretty good
| |
I'm excited to see whether this level of song-writing is continued throughout the album. This song is miles ahead of the previous one they released.
| |
This song is better than all of Leveler except for three tracks
| |
Wasn't bad at all actually
| |
Not as bad as the first but still pretty boring.
| |
I hope the rest of the album is the quality of this song rather than Fault Line
| |
Good song, way better than the first one.
| |
awesomesauce
| |
oh fuck
So much better than the last one. Hopefully they aren't squandering their potential on this album and actually have more songs like this one
| |
more like this please
| |
Not bad ABR. You have just gained a fan
| |
holy shnikes. it's like night and day between these two singles.
| |
Is it any different from every other song they've ever made?
| |
It's pretty Constellations
| |
This sure was a nice little surprise.
| |
awesomesauce [2]
Even though this song is similar to Cutting the Ties from Leveler
| |
band still sucks its seems.
| |
Really good song!
| |
This sounds very promising.
| |
One of their strongest songs to date. Stoked for this album.
| |
Wow, everyone is on the same page with this
| |
This song is a complete mess. What a super awkward transition at 0:33. I laughed when the spoken word came in, too.
I am not trying to trash the band, but their songwriting is so spotty. Every chunk of this song sounds cut and pasted. It's disjointed and awkward.
| |
solid track
| |
I'm surprised at how well this song is being received. I've listened to it several times and can't decide if I like it yet, but progression is good.
| |
Sounds like pretty much everything else they've ever done to me.
| |
Very nice.
Though I do agree that transition at 0:33 is awkward.
| |
Holy shit this is actually really good. Might even check the ablum when it comes out.
| |
Better. Much better
| |
The only problem I have with the song is the stupid spoken-word part. However I'm still interested to see if they're going to explore a little bit of new territory on the album.
| |
Shit song
| |
YEESSSSSSSSS
| |
way better than the first song [397148]
| |
Yeah the spoken word part is bad but I applaud them for trying something new. Song is okay, much better than Fault Line for sure.
| |
I love spoken word verses in music so I have no problem with it. Its different and sounds good.
| |
Spoken word part sounded weird, but this song is their only one I've ever liked. Missed the other single from this album though so I'll check that one out too.
| |
"I love spoken word verses in music"
the human abstract - midheaven sounds like the album for you
| |
I love them too, but this one was lame.
| |
Love their progression. Sounds like Constellations & the better parts of Leveler. More than stoked meow
| |
O.o. I love it so much. I've always liked them!
| |
I love them too, but this one was lame. [2]
| |
drummer stepped it up on this one.
| |
Great song!
| |
"drummer stepped it up on this one."
Have you listened to their previous albums? Matt Greiner slays on every single one of them. Messengers being sick above truth.
| |
Actually a pretty solid jam. I've kinda grown out of these dudes, but this song makes me at least want to check out the album.
| |
Sounds awesome. I'll be checking this album out.
| |
These guys are fun band to see live...The thing that makes them so generic imo is their similar and
constant "breakdowns"...but they do have a certain level of originality that is intriguing...I always
really liked Black Sheep and The Seventh Trumpet...ndonesia was also pretty catchy
| |
I didn't mind Fault Line, but this is awesome. Not entirely sure about the spoken word passage though. I feel like it carries on a little longer than it needs to. Still awesome though.
| |
Better than the last song, but still...I'm just not feeling this band as much anymore. Leveller and these new songs aren't terrible but they certainly aren't stirring up anything in me.
Seems as if Constellations was a fluke...
| |
I like how they've borrowed Megadeths guitar tone
| |
really good, stoked for this
| |
I'm actually going to buy the bundle pack for this album. T-shirt and cd
| |
Excited to hear this album again.
| |
this is one of their strongest songs of their whole discography. looking forward to the new stuff.
| |
Lol talking during the bridge
| |
mediocre
| |
I absolutely despise spoken word sections, doesn't matter what band does it or how much I like everything else they do. That being said this song rules, aside from the spoken word crap. I'll be out of the country with no internet when this album drops, I seriously hope it leaks before I leave.
| |
This sounds like a band reborn. While the spoken word section is lame and the words themselves are a bit off-putting, the music fucking slays.
| |
It's decent. Song sounds like they are having a genre crisis.
| |
A genre crisis is exactly what this band needs. It's timr they begin to evolve into something more than just a very talented, run-of-the-mill metalcore act.
| |
I suppose it's good they are trying to change, I'm just not hearing a coherent idea here.
| |
What do you consider a coherent idea? Chug chug, verse, chug chug, hook, chug chug, 3 second.guitar solo, scream, 5 minute breakdown, chug chug, hook, chug chug, end
| |
Okay yeah this is 1000 times better than the first one. That one kind of sucked
| |
It sounds like they actually tried to do something different.
About time.
| |
"What do you consider a coherent idea? Chug chug, verse, chug chug, hook, chug chug, 3 second.guitar solo, scream, 5 minute breakdown, chug chug, hook, chug chug, end"
.....No.
| |
this song is absolutely amazing
| |
75% of the people commenting on their Facebook page seem to hate it because Fault Line was so much better and they will never reach the same level of brutal breakdown-infested greatness as Messengers.
| |
Probably inevitable since the band that got their fame recording the same album 3 times.
| |
song is enjoyable i guess. nothing warranting a choking of the chicken or anything
| |
"they will never reach the same level of brutal breakdown-infested greatness as Messengers."
That's my favorite record from them. But I don't want them to write it again. This song is more what I was looking for from this band.
| |
"Probably inevitable since the band that got their fame recording the same album 3 times."
Yet you rated their albums differently....
| |
Ah, so I did. I really didn't take rating them very seriously. I was being a bit generous with Constellations.
| |
I like Messengers the least out of all their albums, but I'm in the minority.
| |
"Ah, so I did. I really didn't take rating them very seriously. I was being a bit generous with Constellations."
Lol, i'm just messing around anyway
"I like Messengers the least out of all their albums, but I'm in the minority."
Yeah it's not popular around here. I just love the energy.
| |
Is that progression I hear? ABOUT FUCKING TIME!
| |
Nice, it looks like they are putting some variety into their songs. I like their albums but it does get tiresome with the same pace for 95% of their album.
| |
what was with that spoken word section??
| |
that's the part where they transcend the ethereal plane
| |
"This song is a complete mess. What a super awkward transition at 0:33. I laughed when the spoken word came in, too.
I am not trying to trash the band, but their songwriting is so spotty. Every chunk of this song sounds cut and pasted. It's disjointed and awkward."
I could not disagree any more. I thought the entire song was perfect. So stoked to see them finally experiment successfully. I loved the spoken word, drums were tasteful and not too over the top. Guitar riffs slayed. Stoked for the album
| |
"I could not disagree any more. I thought the entire song was perfect. So stoked to see them finally experiment successfully. I loved the spoken word, drums were tasteful and not too over the top. Guitar riffs slayed. Stoked for the album "
Thanks for your well thought-out critical analysis!
| |
im only an occasional listener and that song fucking ruled hard theyre doing something right.
also lol at the kids bitching at the spoken word/post-rock part wondering why there isnt a breakdown. too funny
| |
Fault Line was lame
| |
Song is okay, hasn't hit me that much so far.
| |
The drummer is insanely good.
| |
This has continued to grow on me, definitely better than anything on Leveler, one of the best songs of their career in my opinion. I'll always enjoy their heavy tracks and whatnot, but I'm hoping this track is an indication of the direction that they want to move in. They've been due for a change in sound for awhile now.
| |
Everyone says this song is good so I'm gonna listen.
| |
Well the bass was cool...
| |
I like how this song kicks into gear. Wasn't expecting it.
| |
I'm just over it and will continue listening to Converge's latest...
| |
I find this whole thread hilarious. As usual, a generic metalcore band's fans hate change despite the fact that they've been calling for it.
| |
guys, don't shit yourself, band sucks and never made anything even remotely good.
This will be no different.
| |
The amount of hate they're getting on their facebook page is hilarious. Kids need to understand bands progress. And I mean real progression, not like Chelsea Grin. lulz
| |
This was pretty awesome and significantly better than the first single, but Mariana's Trench is still their best song. I sincerely doubt they will ever write a better album than Constellations, but I hope they do.
| |
Next Devil Wears Prada album will be all spoken word now
| |
Most of the fans I've seen just want them to make Messengers 3.0
I think the problem is that ABR is not progressing their sound. They haven't evolved over time. They released the same
stuff again and again, and now they are just throwing some random stuff in the mix.
| |
What the hell do you expect them to do
| |
Really hope this song isn't a fluke
| |
Kicks a fat load of ass
| |
Sweet.
| |
"I think the problem is that ABR is not progressing their sound. They haven't evolved over time. They
released the same
stuff again and again, and now they are just throwing some random stuff in the mix."
To me that's how Leveler sounded, but this song sounds different to me,not vastly different but enough
so that it feels like progress.
I hate the Facebook fans. They just want another Messengers, progression and good songwriting mean
nothing to them. I loved Messengers when it came out but I absolutely do not want another one.
| |
another messengers? if they're going to recreate one of their old albums, it better be constellations.
| |
@Durrzo: this is the Carpe Diem/Meridian of the album. It seems they're following the same old path.
| |
Have you heard the whole album? That's a large assumption if not.
| |
Lol metalcore facebook fans are mostly kids that only listen to 3 or 4 metalcore bands that they feel are "br00tal" to them.
Anyway, yes i'd be pretty glad with a Messengers 3.0, but i'd rather stay with a Constellations 2.0 tbh. As ocean said, they're not evolving at all, just writing more diverse music, try to run away from the Metalcore tag maybe. Ends up being uninteresting music (Leveler) for most of the time. I really do prefer them coming back to a Constellations soundscape, in which they were still pretty dynamic, and you could hardly point them a finger for their songwriting.
| |
yeah wont lie spoken word was awk
| |
Have you heard the whole album? That's a large assumption if not.
---
No, it was an assumption.. I'm hoping they will try something more diverse, this is on par with (and sounds like) their other two "sludge-ish" efforts.
| |
Not bad. But the band really needs to progress a lot more.
| |
They have progressed just fine
| |
Song rules, better than all of Leveler and definitely on par with Constellations. Might actually pay attention to this album.
Spoken word was kinda off, reminds me of a worse version of the spoken word in "The Seventh Trumpet".
| |
Song kicked ass, spoken word was kind of awkward tho.
| |
I'd rather have a Thrill Seeker 2.0 than another Constellations.
| |
Spirit Breakcore
| |
The lead in the background near the end reminds me of Meddler.
| |
Other than that, ite. Bit boring
| |
Band have always been solid until l heard the last one they released, thought this might be the same. But damn this song rules. Keenness for this album restored.
| |
Meh.
| |
I'd rather have a Thrill Seeker 2.0 than another Constellations.
Agreed, I love Thrill Seeker, just pure fun.
| |
Thoroughly enjoyed that.
| |
Am I the only one who just wants another christmas album?
fuck constellations 3.0 - i want to hear deck the halls with breakdowns in it
| |
Yes I would say you're completely alone
| |
http://mindequalsblown.net/2013/06/10/august-burns-red-rescue-restore/
Review and song samples bode really well for this. Apparently Fault Line is more of an anomaly for this album than Spirit breaker.
