Since I know how much everyone on this site simply adores Pitchfork, I thought I'd post this news.
|
| |
i actually like pitchfork
|
| |
I would rather see a list of Pitchfork best new music albums that are complete shit!
|
| |
lol the village voice criticizing pitchfork
|
| |
The Village Voice folks, once again proving that they are the fairest site, and have the most correct
and unbiased opinions out of anyone. Just remember though, if you have your own opinions or have a
reputation of everyone disagreeing with you, they'll slam you in an article.
|
| |
Pitchfork gave GKMC like a 9.8 or something like that lol
|
| |
what a cunt move
fuck the Village Voice, P4K-bashing is so 2009
|
| |
The village voice is awful
|
| |
Hey since we have no creativity let's write articles about other websites that write articles
|
| |
pitchfork is alright, although I rarely agree with their ratings they bring to light some interesting artists every now and then.
|
| |
Their decimal system is irrelevant a lot of the time I find
Like giving The Moon & Antarctica a 9.8, like just 10 that shit my word
|
| |
This just really got on my nerves, the audacity of it. Wrote my rant in the comments of the article.
|
| |
where the fuck is Alt-J on that list?
|
| |
might be a bit of a cunt move, but that village voice writer is actually right about almost everything.
|
| |
where the fuck is Alt-J on that list [2]
|
| |
you guys see pitchforks top 100 songs.... ugh
|
| |
One bunch of elitists telling another bunch of elitists their opinion is invalid because they don't agree with them.
Sounds exactly like sputnikmusic.
|
| |
butthurt much? lol
also, Lana Del Ray is awful.
|
| |
I like pitchfork but they suck arcade fire and radiohead's dicks so much
and in a user voted top 200 albums between 1996-2011, the only godspeed album was lift your skinny
fists at #189.
but this article is awful. I don't even know what the village voice is but no self respecting music
media source bases their opinions in terms of another one's
you guys see pitchforks top 100 songs.... ugh
yeah they basically got the right bands' weaker songs with a few awful artists (lol nicki minaj)
littered in
|
| |
Fantastic comment Alex, it's not often that when someone disagrees with a blog they actually eloquently and specifically display that disagreement.
|
| |
Thanks Brostep, they probably won't even get back to me, but I just really needed to express my feelings over this. Articles like this really aren't making the music community a nice place. It took sputnik a long time to be recognized as a legitimate source for professional opinions on music because of the concern of a user-based site acting exactly how these clowns are acting with this article.
|
| |
Thank you for the insightful and opinion free news article.
Belsnickel deems you IMPISH!
|
| |
"you guys see pitchforks top 100 songs.... ugh"
the inclusion of 2 chief keef songs in there was fucking hilarious. they actually seem to believe his music is deep
or something
|
| |
love the voice
hate p4k
so i lold
|
| |
"Thank you for the insightful and opinion free news article. Belsnickel deems you IMPISH!"
A little sarcasm here and there ain't never hurt nobody.
|
| |
The Village Voice's 2nd best metal album of the year was that awful Morbid Angel Ilud Divinum Insanus remix album, so their opinion should automatically be invalid anyway...
|
| |
pitchfork is cool sometimes but they have the most laughable taste in hip-hop. like they need to just
realize that they are simply too damn white and have no business reviewing anything resembling rap,
it's like reading the source or xxl review the national or bon iver or something.
|
| |
I disdain pitchfork, but this was pretty stupid too. I can understand refuting shitty and/or undeserved criticism on albums, but writing an article to do so based on another site's - a site you clearly and openly dislike - reviews is nothing but detrimental. I don't know why the writer thought this was a good idea in the first place. Hell, it seemed like all he was doing was trying to validate/defend albums he liked.
|
| |
"A little sarcasm here and there ain't never hurt nobody."
so you basically did to village voice what they did to p4k. isn't that a dick move too, or that's ok because they started it?
|
| |
..............I made tiny little sarcastic comment joking about how The Village Voice has blatantly
made an entire list where they are arrogantly saying their opinions are right and Pitchfork's are
wrong just because. Explain to me how the hell I'm doing the same thing as them in any way? I'm not
saying their opinions are wrong and Pitchfork's are right, I'm saying their behavior is ridiculous
because Pitchfork where the one's who got attacked by them. So I'm automatically attacking a
publications opinions on albums and making a list about it because I think their actions are wrong?
That is not the same thing in any way. You're telling me that saying little things implying that I
think The Village Voice are being asshole-ish for this list is the same as calling out another music
site because they disagree with my opinion? Are you mental?
|
| |
I am calm. Why do you guys always automatically think I'm pissed off whenever I give an elaborate
reply explaining myself?
|
| |
he's just afraid you'll break the fragile
|
| |
half expected this article to be written by kevin barnes
|
| |
saying that their behaviour is ridiculous in their comments section and writing an article on another music website to diss them are two completely different things. you did both. first was ok, second not so much.
|
| |
People here love pitchfork because where else would they find their dull and boring indie music.
|
| |
Valid point. I really just did it because the fact that they made the idea of the list is ridiculous, and since this site doesn't really like Pitchfork all that much I thought the reactions would be interesting. My remarks may have not been in good conduct and weren't necessary in the article, but I think they were deserving of them.
|
| |
the village voice is gayrite?
|
| |
woa, that was way too civilized a rebuttal for sputnik's standards!
you're cool man :-)
|
| |
I love pitchfork, but I do agree that they're a bunch of hypocritical hipsters.
|
| |
I don't think this article justifies enough of the "good music" they hated. Why not go on Metacritic and see what was critically acclaimed and see if Pitchfork gave a negative response.
|
| |
@spiralk Sorry about the mental comment as well, I was just really perplexed and did not see where your accusations were coming from at all. I do now though, so we're cool.
|
| |
Lol you softies
|
| |
lost interest as soon as i had to go to the next page to keep reading.
also pitchfork blows. hipster bullshit.
|
| |
Just seen their Metal top ten of 2012....Illud Divinum Insanus -- The Remixes is at two...........THE SECOND BEST METAL ALBUM OF 2012?
|
| |
oh man i was expecting something funnier.
|
| |
hipsters calling other hipsters hipsters.
|
| |
Calling Pitchfork out on their opinions is an action probably based on the idea that "good music" is an objective classification...
|
| |
"hipsters calling other hipsters hipsters."
My sentiments exactly.
|
| |
"Calling Pitchfork out on their opinions is an action probably based on the idea that "good music" is an objective classification..."
So you've never differentiated subjectivity and objectivity, eh? In any form of art something can be objectively good or bad. It's just asshats like P4K and /mu/ that think someone who listens to objectively good music is superior, which is idiotic and petty, that destroy the differentiation between subjectivity and objectivity.
"hipsters calling other hipsters hipsters."
Pretty much this, though.
|
| |
"hipsters calling other hipsters hipsters."
...what exactly is a hipster nowadays?
|
| |
^Anyone who is narcissistic and spends too much time on the Internet and their cellphone.
|
| |
since when do 6.8 and 6.5 ratings equal hate...or 5.5 for that matter
idiots
|
| |
"^Anyone who is narcissistic and spends too much time on the Internet and their cellphone."
so basically a smug computer nerd? I don't think that's right.
|
| |
Didn't actually listen to any of these albums except Born to Die.
|
| |
didn't know a high 6 counted as hating. This site sounds like a bunch of disgrunted Needle Drop subscribers.

next person that says something like this gets my cold boot in their slimy cunt
|

Not a fan of P4K, but this is pointless
|

Perspective.
|
| |
simply awful

so higher up and further away?
|

yeah. the distance could be comparable to how long it takes a staff member to become a mod.
|
| |
I'm a pretty tall guy
|
| |
Deviant. I believe it is "just awful"
|
| |
Honestly I don't mind Pitchfork. They're opinions are a little weird at times, but the same can be said about any music review site. I don't know why any one would think The Village Voice is more credible.
|
| |
I don't see why everyone is so up in arms about this, if one of our staff posted a blog like this everyone would love it. i mean xeno (who i love) posted his top albums with fucking cat expressions, how is that any less ridiculous? not to mention their counter claims are better written than 80% of the reviews on this site.
|
| |
I've seen some really well written stuff on Pitchfork. I remember they always trashed The Mars Volta though, even the early stuff. And I also remember a really really bad Coltrane review.
But aside from overhype I don't mind that site.
|
| |

when it gets to the point where village voice, whose writers and editors publish their own opinions on music, begin to write about why another music website, whose editors and writers have their very own opinions about the same music, is wrong, it gets a little absurd. readers will align themselves to whichever publication they find caters to their tastes the best, or that they enjoy the most. this meta inter-publication bullshit is totally irrelevant.
what pitchfork thinks shouldn't matter so much to village voice that they have to redeem these albums or defend them. they should've just written about them, like normal people.
|
| |
"so basically a smug computer nerd? I don't think that's right."
That's what I would call anyone who spends more than an hour on here daily.
|
| |
I love how much people are trying to please each other on the internet. Really? Who the hell am I going to impress by saying that I love Swans? Probably some fat fuck with Dorrito sauce on his chin?
