AFI Ruin Saturday Night Live

2007-01-22 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 34 Comments
Saturday Night Live chiefs are reported to be outraged and "embarrassed" [citation needed] as AFI frontman Davey Havok was caught "not lip-synching" on live tv this weekend.

Havok appeared visibly confused and distressed throughout the two-song performance on this show Saturday [January 20], as apparent technical difficulties forced him to sing both 'Love Like Winter' and 'Miss Murder' in full without the aid of a backing track.

The show's producers have squared the blame firmly in the band's court, producing footage from the show which clearly shows Havok dancing a miniature jig, while the band's management have defended the performance, noting that Mr. Havok does not currently suffer from any form of acid reflux.

Saturday Night Live, which was presented this week by the stocky bloke from Entourage, have acknowledged partial responsibility for the screw-up, but have offered no such explanation as to why the show hasn't been funny since 1988.

Hahahahaha, that last part was great.

Here's what the joke is:

The soundboard crashed at the beginning of Miss Murder, leaving their performance more or less ruined. This could have been prevented had they used a backing track. This Message Edited On 01.22.07

So wait, you're required to use backing tracks on these shows and don't actually need to sing?

That's a pretty sweet deal.

Yeah, on top of not being very funny, I couldn't even understand what the article was trying to say, if it's even true.

I just came back to say jesus christ Plath this is the most retarded news update I have ever seen
I don't even care about AFI or SNL, but if you don't want people writing up bullshit stories in the first place then you might want to set a decent example by not using the news section of the site to fumble through your tired and ridiculously unfunny comedy routines

AFI is my favorite band and that version of Love Like Winter is freaking awesome. i love the ending.

Yeah, it's definitely news. If you chose to not watch the video then you won't understand the news, but that's your fault, not Plath's.

AFI plays SNL.

Sound fucks up.

Damnit none of you people have any sense of humor. Music isn't a subject to be taken THAT seriously.
