AAR Taking A Year Off

2006-11-29 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 17 Comments
Ross Whatsyourname from Friends take note: this is how you take a break.

Billboard.com reports that multi-platinum rockers All-American Rejects are set to write 2007 out of their touring calendar. According to frontman Tyson Ritter (with a name like that, you know his old man wanted a dog before he wanted a son), "I think its gonna be another year before anybody hears from us again."

Ritter added: "I think people make mistakes by coming back too quick. Like the Killers, I think that was a good time that they took away. People get burnt out on sh*t easy. If you don't disappear and you're always in the spotlight, then you're just another Britney Spears, y'know?"

The group's second album, 2005's Move Along became a major hit on the strength of the single of the same name. Eighty solid weeks of touring later, the group is ready for a break- and so should the fans. "I think the world needs to take a breath away from the All-American Rejects."

The group bows out with an itunes-only single, Bite Back, produced by the amazing Butch Walker, but Ritter insists the band will continue to write new material while on hiatus. "I think we're always gonna keep going somewhere forward in our songwriting, in our sound.

"We definitely are a band that tries to get the biggest-sounding record out there, and we're gonna try again. But I don't anticipate it being as slick as [Move Along]. I think it's gonna be in-between the first and second records as far as sound goes."

That's cool. Decent band.

@SOP: The 5th paragraph (the one that starts with 'Ritter continues,' is the same as the 3rd paragraph, so you might wanna get rid of one of them.

Don't worry about it, you can't catch everything all the time.

What idiots. Fleetwood Mac made an album every year from 1967-1975 and no one got sick of them. Van Halen made an album every year for like 7 years. REM did it for like 12. None of them ended up like Britney Spears.

Pat, you weren't around from 1967-1975, so how would you know no one got sick of them?

If you have a time machine I want in.

I wouldn't get sick of my favorite band if they made an album every year. This Message Edited On 11.30.06

They can write some catchy shit... but his vocals are so fucking annoying that I can't listen to them for too long.
