loving this
| |
who's singing
| |
Fucking awesome
| |
think its Brent
| |
and this doesn't sound like Mastodon at all
| |
not really, but it also does
| |
and this doesn't sound like Mastodon at all
If there is one thing I learned from listening to Mastodon is that there is no typical Mastodon sound
| |
dying to hear the full album
| |
it's ok, sounds like they're toning it down a bit
| |
song rips, been jamming to it all morning. Love the two riffs they use in the begining.
| |
Wow, the art they used for this track should've been used for the album art. Much better.
| |
it was ok
| |
New songs sound good so far, but this won't top Crack The Skye
| |
I really don't like the vocals on the new stuff i've heard.
| |
what is happening with this band
| |
Started off nicely, then fell completely to shit.
| |
sweet. not as ambitious, but still enjoyable
| |
I liked the first track they released quite a bit, but this isn't that good.
| |
Meh.
| |
Sounds like a not as good QOTSA.
| |
fucking groovy riffs m/
song is only pretty good though.
| |
Brent Hind is singing at the start of this one. I'm pretty certain. Saw them at Heavy T.O. My top few from that show were (in order of most awesome) Slayer, Mastodon, Motorhead, Rob Zombie, and Anthrax. Diamond were also there doing Am I Evil, and Death Angel impressed with a few tracks too.
| |
Fuck this is good shit
| |
These guys are grade A schlock.
| |
Link is dead.
EDIT: Streamed it somewhere else (http://fuckyeahmastodon.tumblr.com/), didn't like this song too much.
| |
Damn copyright...
| |
This is one of the best songs they've ever done, in terms of being catchy and straightforward. I love it.
| |
Link is dead, you should replace it
| |
riffs are good, but the dead on verse-chorus-verse, 3:30 length and simple lyrics are kind of worrisome.
| |
Damn copyright... [2]
| |
listened to it earlier today a couple of times.
it rules so hard. i'm officially hyped for this album.
| |
Sputnik as a news source, fuck yeah!
| |
Good stuff.
| |
It's groovy, and not half bad. But what happened to the "return to the Leviathan sound" deal? Huh? I want my Seabeast!
| |
It comes as as really generic: guitar riff, verse, chorus (and a lame chorus at that), verse, chorus, bridge, guitar riff, done...just like every other radio single out there.
But it's still fuckin sick...wth
| |
Yeah their new lame-ass pop producer probably insisted that they make radio-friendly singles, because Black Tongue had basically the same V/C format. This better be the exception and not the new rule, or else Hearts Alive on endless loop is gonna get old real soon.

^working link
didn't like this as much as the first track they released
| |
So yeah... it has a verse/chorus/verse format... and? Shit's still quality.
lol @ metalheads who think that complex song structures make a good song.
| |
dudes who cares if it's more radio friendly, that's just the curl of the burl
| |
What does saying mean exactly? =P
| |
listen to the song man, all shall be clear
| |
Not what I was hoping to hear from them. Not bad at all, but I infinitely prefer their Leviathan sound.
| |
Enjoyed it. Catchy as fuck
| |
Why do they all try to sound like Ozzy? Because they all sound like Ozzy.
| |
Pretty damn cool song.
And for anyone who thinks it doesn't fit in with the Leviathan style, listen to Iron Tusk and then this song.
Pretty similar. Not enough to sound like they're ripping themselves off, but they share some basic qualities.
| |
This may just be one of the heaviest songs they've put out since the Remission era. I friggin love it. Definitely am going to be picking this album up now.
| |
@ G3N - From one of the metalheads who likes complex song structures...it's a fun song and it'll be great for introducing new fans, but "simple" songs don't have quite the same replay value imo.
Having a good mix of the simple songs and the long ones is the key, and Mastodon have done a great job of that in the past. For every Colony of Birchmen there should be a Sleeping Giant, and for every The Czar, a Divinations. So this isn't a discouraging song, but it will be fun to see where Mastodon go from here.
| |
Is there Mastodon-like guitar soloing in this song?
| |
I like this better than almost all of Crack the Skye
| |
I like this song though I like Black Tongue a little bit better. There first two single's have me really worried that they have completely done away with their harsh vocals.
| |
I really like this... glad it's a bit different too
| |
not feelin` it at all
| |
Not really digging it... I can see this growing though, big time.
| |
Yeah, most are better.
| |
I didn't really care for it. Black Tongue is much better, though. So not sure how the album's gonna be.
| |
Agree I like Black Tongue more. I've liked everything they've done so far though so I probably won't be disappointed.
Aqua Dementia is the best thing they've written btw. Followed closely by trilobite.
| |
I'm not a fan of the chorus, to be honest, but there's some nice instrumental work. Their simple songs have been great in the past two albums though... ('Divinations', 'Colony of Birchmen', 'Crystal Skull' etc.)
And yes, there is a Mastodon solo...
| |
a bullshit free mastodon song? that I can get behind
| |
KYUSS LIVES! As Mastodon, sadly.
| |
"a bullshit free mastodon song? that I can get behind"
Is this a reference to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-eJQ1mTVzA
| |
"Obviously we have a rapist in Lincoln Park - he's climbing in your windows, he's snatching your people up"
| |
Song is boring, and mediocre.
| |
It sounds like Mastodon is doing a LOAD/RELOAD on us. Short and simple songs and a potential 'I hate this band now, they sold out' for 'old-school' fans
| |
Sounds kinda like Mastodon trying to sound like The Sword trying to sound like Kyuss. In other words, hello to radio
airplay, goodbye to the Mastodon I need to make my life whole again :P
It's not like I won't like this album... it's just that I would rather some other band write these songs so that Mastodon
can be left alone to write epic shit like Leviathan. I need me somethin' to scratch that musical itch.
| |

| |
Mastodon has a better quality version of this song on their facebook page and a weird video to go along with it
| |
Not a huge fan of the new songs, but I'm glad Brann's drumming isn't so... chaotic? Like, before he'd kind of just give the band a 'Fuck you.' and start hammering on the drums, now he's more focused.
| |
Most people seem to be ignoring the fact they released "Deathbound" as well. Tell me that doesn't sound like old Mastodon. Sadly, it's not one of the main tracks on the album.
| |
song was good, black tounge was better though.
| |
"Sadly, it's not one of the main tracks on the album."
It's not on the album at all and I'm pretty sure it's a B Side from Crack The Skye or something
| |
Black Tongue is great, Curl of the Burl is just not the way i expected Mastodon to go
| |
