no jakob? :[
|
| |
Did not know AC/DC were Aussies. I'm glad they put Since I Left You on here, album kicks loads of ass.
|
| |
Surprised 9 is here considering the rest
|
| |
Themata is 30! Yessss
|
| |
Silverchair Frogstomp'd by Powderfinger.
|
| |
No Nick Cave or Crowded House in the top 10 makes me a sad panda
|
| |
The Presets?
|
| |
As a Karnivool fanboy, I think Sound Awake should definitely be top 10.
|
| |
"As a Karnivool fanboy, I think Sound Awake should definitely be top 10."
It's 45. :/
|
| |
The Vines at 37, yeah!
|
| |
thought 1 would get it.
"No Nick Cave or Crowded House in the top 10 makes me a sad panda"
generational thing. loads of younger listeners voting, thus the presets.
|
| |
Parkway Drive is not 1? THE FUCK?
|
| |
Did not know AC/DC were Aussies
wat
seeing stuff like the presets is evidence enough that the entire list is a crock of shit. though obviously some classic australian records were mentioned.
|
| |
Been following this, really disappointing that the majority of voters are young with short attention spans and memories. And I mean come on, Powderfinger are awful.
|
| |
birds of tokyo above karnivool.... blasphemy
|
| |
powderfinger = gross
enjoy the fact that Karnivool, Cog, Dead Letter Circus and The Butterfly Effect all had albums in there.
But honestly, Gotye should have been top 10.
|
| |
Still pretty happy with Gotye at #11
|
| |
powderfinger = gross
enjoy the fact that Karnivool, Cog, Dead Letter Circus and The Butterfly Effect all had albums in there.
it's pretty lol that you like bands like karnivool or butterfly effect yet think powderfinger are bad
|
| |
I can't believe Back in Black is not #1
|
| |
Silverchair's whole discography is in there (lame) and no Bodyjar.. huge disappointment
|
| |
Pretty good list...has none of about my top 10 and only a handful or so from prob my top 30
facepalm no Xavier Rudd or Laura especially
|
| |
No Daysend? or Memento? NO DEAD CAN DANCE?! HOW CAN YOU HAVE NO DEAD CAN DANCE?! I think I'm going to be sick.
|
| |
"No Nick Cave or Crowded House in the top 10 makes me a sad panda"
two Crowded House albums in the top 20 isn't too bad
the top is a bit too centered around Powderfinger (are they THAT huge there?), but a pretty cool list overall;
Tame Impala at #19 is great
|
| |
Wow... not even a Nick Cave album in the top 50? Really?
|
| |
This is upsetting! They didnt mention The Mark of Cain. So sad!
|
| |
WHURS PARK WAY DRIVE???
|
| |
so glad finger and avalanches is in here
|
| |
neon ballroom ought to be above frogstomp tho
|
| |
Can't believe The Living End are #4. Must be so much bigger in Australia than I imagined.
|
| |
8. Wolfmother - Wolfmother
Wel... at least there's no Jet...
|
| |
3.AC/DC - Back in Black
Bon Scott deserves not this dishonour.
|
| |
Jet's at 25
|
| |
Jet's at 25
I'm off to kill myself
|
| |
R U GUNNA B MY GRRRL?
|
| |
i'm okay with this, all the bands i know got a spot =) surprised that "universes" is as high as it is, i thought the newer birds of tokyo album got more mainstream success.
|
| |
a lot of these are great, but i mean...the order...i mean...so LOL
|
| |
No The Middle East? Lol.
|
| |
3.AC/DC - Back in Black
And not Highway To Hell? The fuck?
|
| |
Instead of 'Musically Ignorant 8th-Grader', it should be 'Musically Ignorant Australian'. I say this, and I'm Australian.
Stoked to see Pete Murray, Cog, Karnivool, Something For Kate, Josh Pyke, Silverchair and Tame Impala all on there, but I share similar sentiments to many of you.
As I skimmed through, I did not see and Living End, Xavier Rudd or Parkway Drive, 3 of Australia's greatest musical exports. Seriously, fuck - 'White Moth', 'Killing With a Smile' and basically all of The Living End's albums are Australian classics.
|
| |
alright, the living end get their self-titled on there. but 0 xavier rudd? i'm deporting, man.
|
| |
also, before somebody asks me whether i voted or not... i did not vote, so my points are somewhat nullified.
|
| |
List was always going to be very shit due to ability for 14 year old girls voting. Yet nonetheless, I was actually surprised that number 9 didn't make number 1 as there was so much support for it! Ah well...
|
| |
See what happens when voting is left to listeners?
|
| |
God damn... our music really does suck if powderfinger and silver chair are #1 and #2.
Sorry guys im embarrassed.
Its true though, most our music does suck =(
|
| |
dougie you should add a space before "AC/DC" so the article looks better.
and anyone leaving a comment like "No _____? dumbasses" is being stupid. We all knew this was going to be albums popular in the mainstream. It's like you guys are expecting the general public to release a sputniky list which would never fucking happen. I haven't looked at the top 100 but I'm sure it's full of lol. But if you didn't expect that then you're stupid.
Cool to see Since I Left You so high
|
| |
But Aids, Xavier Rudd and Parkway Drive are hardly 'sputniky' at all. They're huge around Australia, and the Living End are one of Australia's biggest ever bands!
|
| |
and who the fuck is powderfinger!?
|
| |
No Gina G. She must have been ruled as English.
|
| |
I'm glad Tame Impala got in at 19.
|
| |
But Aids, Xavier Rudd and Parkway Drive are hardly 'sputniky' at all. They're huge around Australia, and the Living End are one of Australia's biggest ever bands!
I think you misread my rant.
oh and Xavier Rudd fucking rules
|
| |
Fuck yeah, INXS
|
| |
Complete joke. Frogstomp at number 2? it has was? 3 good songs? Too much powerderfinger and out of 100 albums no Let love in by Nick Cave?
|
| |
As much as I enjoy triple j their listeners have some pretty shitty views on good music, just look at the more recent hottest 100's they have gone down the tubes of late
|
| |
fuck austria
|
| |
Fail. ^
|
| |
entire list is pretty terrible. had some great albums but they were few and far between.
|
| |
for the record i voted for these:
Silverchair - Diorama
Avalanches, The - Since I Left You
Dead Can Dance - Within the Realm of a Dying Sun
Drones, The - Havilah
diSEMBOWELMENT - Transcendence into the Peripheral
Ben Frost - Theory of Machines
Something for Kate - Beautiful Sharks
Love Like... Electrocution - Love Like... Electrocution
Dirty Three - Ocean Songs
Eleventh He Reaches London - Hollow Be My Name
|
| |
No Alchemist!?
Also surprised Parkway Drive isn't on here, and Dirty Three, unless I missed them.
|
| |
Spare you're awesome. especially for Avalanches, DCD, diSEMBOWELMENT and Ben Frost (who i had no idea was Aussie, actually)
|
| |
I voted the following:
THE AVALANCHES
Since I Left You
CROWDED HOUSE
Temple of Low Men
KARNIVOOL
Sound Awake
THE MIDDLE EAST
I Want That You Are Always Happy
PAUL KELLY & THE MESSENGERS
So Much Water, So Close To Home
POWDERFINGER
Odyssey Number Five
PAUL DEMPSEY
Everything Is True
REGURGITATOR
Unit
SOMETHING FOR KATE
Beautiful Sharks
THE WHITLAMS
Eternal Nightcap
|
| |
"no jakob? :["
Jakob is a NEW ZEALAND band, just sayin'.
|
| |
Fuck I hate this country sometimes.
|
| |
where the fuck is think aloud by the quiet steps?
|
| |
The Voice @49 nice, also Chisel, H&C, Oils, AC/DC, INXS, C.House
yay DLC, Karnivool, Cog, BoT, The Butterfly Effect
ALCHEMIST has our vote Butkuiss
|
| |
Back In Black was written and recorded outside of Australia iirc
|
| |
yeah i thought it was w&r in britain
|
| |
yeah well the crowded house records were written by a new zealander so
|
| |
funn brothers ftw
|
| |
How in the hell is Diesel and Dust not in the top ten?
|
| |
Once again i am embarrassed to say i'm Australian.
|
| |
Some good stuff in the list. Some shit too.
|
| |
I guess this does not include bands form New Zealand or we might have seen Jakob and Ulcerate?
|
| |
only australian band I can think of off the top of my head is Closure in Moscow
|
| |
#1 is well deserved
|
| |
Is Jakob really that popular? I mean they are a really good band, but given who would have been voting in this poll I doubt they would have gone close. Seriously Parkway Drive who have an amazing amount of love in this country didn't even rate a mention
|
| |
#1 is well deserved
If you think of drinking a whole bottle of Bundy Black and beating your misses to a bloody pulp on a friday night as fun, then yeah, I guess you're right.
|
| |
Where Abramelin and The Drones at?
|
| |
lol wolfmother wat the flying fuck
|
| |
wolfmother shouldn't be allowed because all their songs were written by led zeppelin
|
| |
"wolfmother shouldn't be allowed because all their songs were written by led zeppelin"
So damn true. +1!
|
| |
at least the avalanches and regurgitator made it into the top 10
|
| |
WTF? Where's Highway to Hell?
|
| |
Some nice variety, but this is still a representation of a small audience (i.e Triple J listeners) - Presents have some great work, but can't hold a candle to Crowded House....
|
| |
"only australian band I can think of off the top of my head is Closure in Moscow"
I feel very sorry for you. There is know way you shouldn't know:
2. Silverchair - Frogstomp
3. AC/DC - Back in Black
4. The Living End - The Living End
5. INXS - Kick
Or fucking MIDNIGHT OIL
|
| |
those albums are p shitty tho js
|
| |
Frogstomp is the only one of those I would consider lacking imo. Particularly when sat next to the others.
|
| |
TLE and kick are great albums
If you think of drinking a whole bottle of Bundy Black and beating your misses to a bloody pulp on a friday night as fun, then yeah, I guess you're right.
odyssey number five is pretty far removed from what you're saying
you need to listen to the album again (or at all) if you're under the impression it appeals to a bogan mentality
|
| |
Jakob is a NEW ZEALAND band, just sayin'.
whoops, forgot :]
|
| |
yeah odyssey number five is pretty great really. didn't really understand that post. although internationalist is far better tbh.
|
| |
Frogstomp FUCK YEA, and crowded house are NOT AUSSIES, theyre from NZ!
|
| |
"odyssey number five is pretty far removed from what you're saying"
I was gonna say the same, but I figured it might have been an unrelated comment since he just hates it. That'd be easier to apply to AC/DC really.
|
| |
I'm actually pleased with this list, just disappointed by the lack of Dead Can Dance. Also, Parkway Drive should have received a spot.
|
| |
just disappointed by the lack of Dead Can Dance [2]
yay for 9 though
|
| |
