Seems like the industry is clamouring to over hype James Blake.

really? i love his sound.

If they're talking about the drum n bass/dubstep Nero, then I'd have to agree. But I can't speak for the others.
| |
i dunno anyone on this list, aside from Nero. and even then i only know the name
| |
Interesting that they would choose Nero now as an artist to "blow up" - they've been around for about 7 years. James Blake is the obvious one, even though I reckon he'll be putting out EP's for awhile to come
| |
Who are these people? Crazy Brits.
| |
Yuck
| |
They get it right a lot though tbh
| |
They get it right because it's a self-fulfilling prophecy. People read it and go OMG THEY MUST BE GUD and rush out and buy. Then they get big and the BBC is all like LOOK H OW GOOD WE ARE!
| |
Naked and Famous are pretty groovy
| |
Electronica is getting to be a big big big deal. Ifso facto Nero is going to be a big big big big big deal.
Not hard to do, but I agree with the pick.
| |
Ifso facto.
| |
Explain how its only now becoming a big big big deal
| |
Raves are starting to go mainstream. It's a sub-culture that's wriggling its way into mainstream culture. In a big way. iGeneration, yo.
| |
Except its been like that for the last 10 years
| |
I'd say I'm starting to see a bigger buzz about it. My hometown is starting to get a huge dubstep/dance scene that didn't exist ten years ago, and I'd assume the same is true for other places.
| |
Gareth liddiard, bitches.
| |
winsomniac is ahead of the curve
| |
Rave is dead.
| |
"Yuck"?
Badass.
Warpaint for the muthafuckin win.
| |
the sound of 2010 list was the entire reason ellie goulding is as big as she is now.
It's cool Nero got recognised though, I think they chose now because they've started making slightly more radio friendly music and it's getting a decent amount of airtime.

everyone is listening to dubstep now...even though 99.9% of people have no idea what dubstep is and then get angry when I say what they are listening to is indeed NOT dubstep... I hate humans.
| |
to be fair, dubstep is a pretty varied genre
| |
no offence rabbit but you sound like one of these dubstep elitists that are knocking around the internet at the moment
| |

He's putting an album out in Feb i believe. Should be the bomb
| |
Yuck and The Vaccines are pretty good from what I've heard (a few songs from each)
| |
Dubstep elitists ?
/I come crashing through the ceiling

I highly doubt you have any idea yourself, seeing as how the only slightly related words I've ever heard you use are 'Burial' and 'Untrue'

i bet if couldwinarabbit listened to some really filthy, grimy dub he'd enjoy the hell out of it.
| |
how did they do this list
| |
the naked & famous are already pretty big down here in aus. you can't go to a party without getting down to young blood at least once during the night.

Could say the same for a lot of the posters on the dubstepforum
| |
Warpaint and The Vaccines are the only ones I've heard of, but from what I've read they seem good
| |
Esben and the Witch toured here in the States with Foals. They have an interesting sound
