Guests on new AFI album

2006-02-02 by Damrod EMERITUS | 9 Comments
According to various sources there will be several guest singers and musicians on the new AFI album. Not much is certain at this point though. Acknowledged is that Keith Barney of Eighteen Visions will perform vocals on the record. Members of Bleeding Through will be part of the party as well, no names are sure so far.

I'm not a fan of multiple guest musicians on a cd (Lest it's hip-hop). Anyways, I'm also stoked for this disc.

Way to be ignorant SyphonAss. Does this maybe imply more of a metalcore feel to the album? I sure hope not...

That would totally bring any fan of AFI to the ground if they were to sound metalcore. I really cant imagine chugging breakdowns in AFI, it just doesnt match at all.

Ah, I think this is going to be a bad idea. I can already feel it.

guest musicinas brings 2 scenarios

1) could make for a totally cool album with plenty of surprises

Or

2) we could be hearing the next st.anger metallica mistake

hmmmm

Actually, this is typical for AFI. Almost every single record, if not all have guest vocals, just check thier CD booklets. Usually they just sing some back-up vocals so their individual voices don't necessarily cut through. It just sounds like it's Jade, Hunter, and Adam doing their usual backup vocals.

If you remember Black Sails in the Sunset, ith has a few songs where Dexter Holland from The Offspring does back up vocals. Clove Smoke Catharsis and The Prayer Position are 2 songs where you can clearly hear his voice.

Hell, even on Sing the Sorrow, they had their original bassist, Geoff Kresge (sp?), add some vocals, dunno what songs, probably some harmonies and such.

As for a guest guitar part, I think it's unlikely considering how Jade is with his music. I hear he is very critical of it, so he may feel weird having someone add even the slightest guitar part. But who knows?

Probably some violin, cello players will appear in some song, they've already done it before.

I'm sidestepping my point, just check the CD booklets for all thier music credits, there's always a few guests on there
