Ryan (Hawks) and Simon (Dr.Gonzo) recently caught up with David Moody and Chris Sheppard, the duo behind some of the most interesting black/death metal on the market today, to talk about Veilburner’s latest album, Longing for Triumph, Reeking of Tragedy, as well as a load of interesting subjects including world-building, playing live, influences, and a candid look at how the sausage is made in the Veilburner camp.

Just a quick info dump for you guys; if time permits, I've got some ambitious plans for 2026 that involves more focus on our YouTube channel. Content has always been put on there over the years, but it was hardly bursting at the seams or consistent. One of the big things for it will be interviews, but to do that I had to look at a different approach to the conventional interview format here on sputnik. So with that in mind, any interviews posted by me going forward will be exclusively audio/video. This is largely down to how time consuming interviews are to produce, in terms of editing and typing transcripts/videos etc -- which is also the main reason why I've only ever been able to do a couple interviews a year. With this new format, I'm able to provide the site with a lot more interview content going forward without being bogged down. So, if you prefer the written interviews over video/audio, I can only apologies.
With that out of the way, I hope you enjoy this interview me and Hawks did with Veilburner recently. This was Hawk's first interview and, as you'll see, he did a great job.
Let us know what you think about the look of the new format, and please consider subscribing to the YouTube channel, as the aim is to produce more than just interviews on there.
