This looks like a banger of a week for jams.

Not much here that really speaks to me for the most part. I have low expectations for new DT, but I might check it out anyways. I will DEFINITELY be checking out the final Low Roar album though

oklou sounds great

Jinjer and Saor. May check Heartworms and SVE just out of curiosity.

Koris

obscura 💩💩💩 [2]

I feel bad for Christian Munzner. He's been completely shafted by two of his major bands at this point -- the other one being Necrophagist -- and unfairly denied songwriting credit/royalties. Steffan can fucking shove it

First big week of the year for me. Those Unreqvited singles are the best thing I've heard so far this year. New Saor, Jinjer, might check out new DT as well (though my hopes are low).

Also:

Sacred Noose - Vanishing Spires (dissodeath, already out)
Storm Death - Chaos Will Reign! (thrashy dm, Feb 6)
Phrenelith - Ashen Womb (death metal)
Norilsk - Antipole (sludgy death doom)
Omnicidal Instinct - Catharsis in Blight (bdm/slam)

Demon of the Fall
02.05.25
normally I would auto-check Saor but I have my doubts after the last one

the rest is an easy swerve to maintain '25 abstinence, for another week at least

Sharon Van Etten
The Moles
Ben Seretan

Sweet week - Low Roar, Saor, and Unreqvited are my big three, but some others of interest as well.

Man the Obscura slander in here is nuts lmao. I'll gladly be the only one on the hype train. Band rips.

Zakusz

I also released 2 new EP's this week straight out of the basement and into Toyota Camry's the world abound. The first is a 20 minute post-rock tune inspired by Godspeed and the second is a soundscape that's nice and twinkly.

Dream Theater, Jinjer, Low Roar, Obscura, Unreqvited, Squids, Saor. I've preordered all these on vinyls, so pretty big week for me! This will be my first Obscura album, so let's see.

Ladron93

I'll be checking out some of those albums later.

New Majestica is worth a listen for power metal fans. I do think their Christmas album was better though.
