Nope.

The new Ray Alder should appeal to any Fates Warning fan. It's basically a heavier version of his last solo release.

I"m looking forward to hearing the Cynic remaster even though the new sound hasn't really clicked with me yet.

Tentatively interested in The Boo Radleys, Christine and the Queens, False Memories, Godflesh, Omnium Gatherum, Rise to Fall, and Scar Symmetry.

Jayda and King Krule are my most anticipated here although kind of expect both to be a bit mid.

Might check out C&TQ and Janelle Monae depending on the reception as well

The second Friday of three weeks in a row which are totally stacked for me. Jason Isbell, Jess Williamson, Squid, and Tenhi are the big four, but a few other intriguing releases as well.

06.08.23
Oh lord new Big Blood

Demon of the Fall
06.08.23
some of you guys have far too much energy for this new release shit

Doof is a case in point. Act like the old man you are and dial it back a little, lol

Demon - I smash new releases on Friday and usually two or three I like a lot then get repeat listens in the short term over the next couple of weeks. Rest of the time it's stuff I know or old stuff I try out.

I would not rely on new music too much, I tend to find more juicy stuff outside of that. New releases a lot of it is like watching a trailer for a show and leaving it at that - only the strong survive and all that. Just a fun process going through them I dunno.

Demon of the Fall
06.08.23
I admire your stamina. Admittedly I probably give too many chances to things I end up discarding anyway, so try not to bite off more than I can chew. It sounds like a lot of what you hear goes in the bin first time around. Conviction.

DoofDoof
06.08.23
Sometimes I wind back round to stuff - like last week there was a decent sounding post-punk album called Stuck and I put up a good rating for it and I will wind back around to it during a quiet week or whenever. Part of why I rate is just to have a list to re-check, esp for the current year.

I would think at least a quarter of the 2023 albums I check I will never return to yeah.

Demon of the Fall
06.08.23
a quarter is fair enough, sometimes you just know

PotsyTater
06.09.23
Sowing when you are going through upcoming releases on albumoftheyear etc how tf do you settle on porting some of these over lmao

Like that anime ass grind album and whatever that godawful looking hard rock/funk album

Flugmorph
06.09.23

DoofDoof
06.09.23
Wow, first three I checked were all top quality - Squid go Radiohead (ish), Isbell channels Petty (ish) and Big Blood go pop (ish)

Flugmorph
06.09.23
ish

DoofDoof
06.09.23
yeah, lot of ish this week

Demon of the Fall
06.09.23
I forgot this release day existed tbh, will get on KK and maybe Squid next week

anything else will depend on time constraints

DoofDoof
06.09.23
Update: the Godflesh is also top tier despite the mid review here

PotsyTater
06.09.23
Idk wtf squid is but it ended up on my list jus because it’s on warp

Ryus
06.09.23
you will be disappointed pots its not warp-core it's black midi-core

they are probably the best band of the bunch but that's not really saying much

Ryus
06.09.23
i'll be checking it though, i feel like they have the potential to release something i actually really like.

PotsyTater
06.09.23
I saw that they were a ~band~ when I was looking up the album to save on Spotify and I was like “ugh, ~band~”
