Featured Release

Anthem Of The Peaceful Army

Greta Van Fleet: Anthem Of The Peaceful Army
Genre: Rock/Blues
Label: Republic

The other day I played a Greta Van Fleet song for my wife, who barely listens to music that was made before the 2000’s.  “Is this Led Zeppelin?”, she innocently inquired.  I corrected her – “No.”  “Oh”, she said, “They sound just like them except not as good.”  “Yes, yes they do”, I replied.  We rode the rest of the way to the grocery in awkward silence.

What did you expect, a third straight week of quality releases?

Let me know what I missed and I'll try to get it up there before Friday...these are pretty much just Metacritic approved albums.

Toondude10
10.15.18
new Minus the Bear and new Devour the Day are also this week

(don't think anyone added the latter album though)

Sowing
10.15.18
I can't find anything for a new MtB release. Devour the Day shows as 10/26 for me.

onionbubs
10.15.18
always nice having greta van fleet and disturbed to boost objectivity

Toondude10
10.15.18

New Internal Bleeding, nice.

Also, new Sacral Rage album is due this Friday.

Surprised it took Ace Frehley that long to release an album entitled Spaceman.

Sowing
10.15.18
I'm reading conflicting reports about the new Internal Bleeding - I've read Oct 19, Oct 26, and Nov 2 haha

Voivod
10.15.18
^^Yeah, different dates routinely correspond to release of different formats (CD, vinyl, digital download etc.)

Demon of the Fall
10.15.18
Seems like a particularly bad week for album covers at the very least

Sowing
10.15.18
worst week ever for covers, and the music is pretty bad too btw

GVF and Disturbed? it's like the music gods are just taunting us at this point

Demon of the Fall
10.15.18
I have no clue who GVF are tbh, that Disturbed album is probably awful though & morbid curiosity dictates I may actually check it out. It's been a while since I heard something truly terrible.

Toondude10
10.15.18
GVF are a wannabe Led Zeppelin knock off, and even that is giving them some credit

Demon of the Fall
10.15.18
So SowingSeason's wife was correct then?

BigBlob
10.15.18
is it now the cool thing to do i music to have a horrific album cover?

butcherboy
10.15.18
the week in 2018 where Yoko Ono has the best album on offer..

betlwedl
10.15.18
So nobody gives a shit about the new Gorod or How to Dress Well anymore? Man times have changed

Sowing
10.15.18
I'm sure people still care I just felt like using the featured space to make fun of one of the bad albums instead

zzf1918
10.15.18
New Hellions too!

betlwedl
10.15.18
Oh yeah wasn't complaining about the feature, just surprised at all the comments saying there's nothing interesting this week when those bands used to be so hyped around here

betlwedl
10.15.18
Same with cloud nothings the though their last album was a bit lame

luci

Objectivity week!

Divaman
10.16.18
I'll check out the Elle King album. Hear she's changed her sound a lot from the last one, though.

Divaman
10.16.18
Dear God, there's a new Yoko Ono album? And that Presidential warning thing on the cell phones didn't go off?

Gnocchi
10.16.18
Is that really the Soulfly art?

zaruyache
10.16.18
lol it isn't. It's for the band Nazareth. Sowing dun a goof.

Gnocchi
10.16.18
Classic Sowing

Scheumke
10.16.18
That Amaranthe cover might be right up there with the worst covers I've ever seen lol. Can you imagine that someone spend hours on that, and then the band actually liked it enough to give it a go. I'm impressed and baffled at the same time.

Demon of the Fall
10.16.18
Yeah I'm going to assume the one above it is tongue-in-cheek (I hope), whereas you can imagine that Amaranthe is actually somewhat serious, even if it seems ridiculous. Plenty of competition in the bad cover category here though.

Tchitcherine
10.16.18
I hope there are a lot XCX written songs on that MØ album

Tchitcherine
10.16.18
How could I expect sput could handle this character

henryChinaski
10.17.18
Jimmy Urine. Really?

Keyblade
10.17.18

thecheatisnotdead
10.18.18
Seconding Hellions, Soulfly, and Minus the Bear (which, yeah, just an EP, but their last one, so seems like that should count for something).
