Left Spine Down – X-Ray

————————————————————————————————–

Left Down Spine have signed with Metropolis Records and are back with their second album of digital hardcore. Those familiar with the band will notice that major changes have taken place since Fighting For Voltage was released in 2008. The band have dropped all of their metal influences and wall-of-sound production in favor of a fun mixture of punk, industrial and electronics. “X-Ray” is the first single from the album, Caution. Caution was released on the 26th of August.

It's not nearly the best song on the album, but for bands like this the single rarely is.

vancouvers gonna become a big player in the industrial scene soon....just you wait

Soon? Canada has all the best of the current industrial bands.

Canada and Europe is where it's at.

Canada has a great scene period, I'd love to go to Neurodance in Toronto sometime.

Mexico's got it covered too

Yeah you're right sir... I've started to cave a bit on my anti-Hocico stand.

I've still not heard an entire album but the few tracks that my friend has shared are not bad at all, who knows I might end up going crazy for them too.

I firmly believe they are at the head of the pack with this harsh ebm business. But yes, join my insanity :D

Acanthus

Harsh ebm is a tough crowd, the songs can so easily blend together.... I might sir, I might :)

I couldn't agree more with you; despite my love for the genre, it is VERY rare that I'm going to like an album front to back. And hell, trying to decipher songs gets to me all the time. I still can't even recognize one Hocico song from another tbh.

Terror ebm gets that way too, also after reading a thread where Mrs. Null of Uternull often commented the constant distorted vocals live are hard to achieve without feedback issues/overly expensive equipment.

If the sub-genre could find a stable figure head it'd do it wonders for new listeners.

Sorry meant "UnterNull"

I think even the genre might be to blame a little too. Many of the fans and artists look out of their minds. And then there's the vocals that are harsh as fuck but the beats and music are danceable...WHAT THE HELL DO I DO?!

Call it an acquired taste.

Acanthus

Acquired taste indeed, though I'd love to have more people like it!

It would be a beautiful thing

I'm just happy that people like industrial, that the word is slowly spreading.

I can appreciate that they're doing something outside the norm, but it kind of seems like a part in a scifi movie where they are making parody how musics going to sound in the future. Not my cup of tea.

im really into this song and another that i heard from youtube, def gonna check this band out. keeps hte good part of a techno industrial group like prodigy but with the good rock feel of a group l ike billy tlent (they dont really sound that punk at all, but the singer does totally sound like their singer!)

Left Spine Down isn't really an industrial band, despite the unsettling trend for basically everyone on Metropolis Records to be marketed as such at some point. Sorry, I'm going to trust my own ears on this one!

Funny thing, I actually thought their debut CD wasn't produced raw or heavy enough, compared to the couple times I caught them live. I really enjoyed them opening for RevCo in 2009, but I don't think I need to bother with this new album.

This one might not be pure industrial, but there's no denying that their debut was pretty standard industrial metal (or Digital Hardcore, if you prefer). If you didn't think that their debut was raw or heavy enough, then there's not much chance of you appreciating this one.

I like it! The bloops in the chorus are a neat touch.

If you like the song then you'll like the album because most of the other songs are even better.
