An alt-pop/singer-songwriter record that?s bland and awkward in so many ways. The direction of the sound is fine, but not much else delivers in the same way. Anthemic tracks feel cheaply motivated, and the more intimate tracks are hit-or-miss; especially, with a couple of them needing more time to be ?re-written.? The album is a mess, that maybe a minor step up from his last record, but maybe cutting some tracks or a lot more focus could make this change of pace, from the artist, a bit more satisfying.
